UNABLE TO SLEEP, MINA sat in the chair in Cam's room, feet on the edge of the bed, sketchbook open on her lap as she absentmindedly drew the Cam she knew: smiling, mischievous, vivacious. Human. Not this wasted wreck of a vampire. She peered at Cam's face, half turned towards the wall, and her stomach twisted into knots at the dark shadows under her eyes and the twitch in the hand that lay limp across her stomach. Mina wracked her brain, trying to pinpoint the moment she'd exposed Cam to the creatures of the netherworld and left her vulnerable to a vampire's bite.
