DALE PEERED AT MINA with a question on his face, his eyebrows pulling together, his lips slightly open, his head tilting to the side. Then he looked down at his stomach, where his intestines spilled into his hands, tumbling through his fingers. Mina tried to scream, but her voice was stolen as the figure beside Dale, a shadow with a cascade of brown curls, turned to face her. One hand held a golden half circle, dripping blood and bits of Dale's insides onto the ground. The face was a void, like empty space except for two bits of onyx where the eyes should be. A sound like rusting metal hinges rose from the shadow, and its visage morphed into a skull. Tendons were painted onto bone then muscles oozed into place. Finally flesh appeared, moist and red like an open sore, before turning to pal
