CHAPTER THIRTEEN THE SOUNDS OF DARKNESS swirled around Night. She c****d her head to listen. The whispering of wicked things in the breeze combined with the steady throb of the hungry things lurking below her feet reminded her of the rattle of desiccated bones around her neck as she rode to battle. These things that clung to the shadows, they were hers. All except one. A pitter pat heartbeat to her left, behind her and just above.
