Moonlight

Chapter 3

Alex POV

We rushed to her when she slipped. I could hear her hitting the rocks and branches on her way down. Kristof was whining in my head. ‘We just found mate, we can’t lose mate’ He said. When we reached her, she was unconscious, but was already starting to heal. I shifted to pick her up, warmth and sparks shoot up my body as our skin made contact. Damn she is gorgeous, I thought.

I looked up as something shiny caught my eye making me come down from the sickening emotions I was starting to feel for this tiny she-wolf. On a small branch of a tree was a necklace. ‘Mate must have lost it when mate fell down.’ Kristof pointed out. I shifted her body to pick it up, but it burned my skin on contact. ‘Silver’ Kristof said, ‘how was she wearing it?’ I asked. ‘Mate is special.’ He replied. ‘Don’t start getting attached’. I said, rolling my eyes. ‘I will leave you if you try.’ He spat. ‘ You know I never wanted a mate. You know she will only make us weaker’ I replied, ‘You are an i***t, but right now more important things to do than argue with you, take mate to pack. Have a doctor check mate please.’ He demanded. He was right it did not matter if I did not want her, I needed to have her checked out, I was an asshole, but not a monster to leave her here to fend for herself. Besides if she was a rogue or knew the rogue I could get some answers from her. I smiled as I thought of the many different ways I could have her answer all my questions. Damn it, snap out of it, Alex! She is just another she-wolf, they only let you do things to them because they want to be your Luna. I’ll be damned if I catch feelings for a power hungry b***h. ‘Hurry up, i***t!’ Kristof whined. I grabbed the necklace with a receipt I found on her backpack and put it in her backpack. I would ask her about this later as well.

“Who’s she?” said a voice that startled me. It was Danilo, I guess I was so focused on her I didn't notice him. He handed me a pair of shorts and a t-shirt.

“I found her out here, while chasing a rogue. I don’t know who she is.” I simply said. ‘Tell him she is mate!’ Kristof yelled in my head. I ignored him.

“She is gorgeous! Dibs on interrogating her.” Danilo jokingly said. A growl escaped from my chest, surprising even myself.

“Hey, it’s not like she’s your mate. Besides you already have all the she-wolves in the pack” He said jokingly. If only he knew. I just stared at him with nothing to say.

“Oh s**t man! she IS your mate!” This dude knows me too well. f**k!

“Let’s just get her back to Dr. Maynard” I said in an annoyed tone walking past him and to the pickups that were just arriving. I placed her on the back seat. I gave instructions to the three warriors to search for her camp and bring me what they found. She had a camping permit, and car keys on her back pack.

“Let’s go man! She needs to be seen.” He yelled as he hopped on the driver’s seat.

“I am driving!” I yelled back.

“You drive like s**t! We’ll never make it back if I let you drive” He said with a grin on his face. I reluctantly hopped on the passenger seat. I wanted to punch him, but suddenly I was more concerned for the little creature in the back than anything else.

The drive back felt like it took forever. I got mad at myself for checking on her every minute. I couldn’t help myself. I felt Kristof was worried in my head. We knew she was ok, but still wanted to make sure she was safe.

“Look about what I said…” He started, but I interrupted him “It’s fine man, you know I am just going to reject her. I never wanted a mate. Plus I think she’s a rogue, and probably a weak omega, the moment she finds out I’m the Alpha she’ll throw herself at me like any other she-wolf out there” I said. I could hear Kristof pissed in my head. ‘Mate is special!’ He yelled.

“Look man, I know you too damn well. I know you don’t give a f**k if she’s omega or not. I also know you won’t admit you are attracted and intrigued by her, or that you even like her, but how about you let me find out more about her, before you do something stupid you’ll end up regretting?” Danilo asked, and he was right. He did know me well, too well actually.

“Fine” I spat in an angry tone. I was pissed. My wolf and best friend were starting to irritate me with this mate s**t. I mean sure she was cute, ok, ok, she was gorgeous, but f**k, I did not want a mate. She probably was annoying as s**t, or something, all she-wolves in the pack were annoying, gold diggers, or some other s**t. I mean it did not stop me from sleeping around, but never getting attached. I knew most just threw themselves at me because they wanted to be Luna, but I was not about to mark any of them, and now I am mated to a possible omega and rogue, nonetheless. f**k no, no matter how hot she is, she ain’t for me. I will just have Danilo keep an eye on her, until I get to reject her.

Aime POV

I kept hearing an annoying beeping in the darkness. I did not know what it was or even where I was. I just kept walking towards a very bright light that seemed far away. I was not afraid, it was almost as if it was calling me. As I began to get closer the light began to palpitate. When I reached it , it turned into a beautiful… me! She looked like me but different. She was dressed in beautiful silk silver robes. Her hair flowing down almost as if she was suspended in air. She reached her hand and I grabbed it. She pulled me towards her gently and guided me towards Anya. Anya is my wolf. She is beautiful and my best friend. Anya’s and my eyes connected and she spoke in my head. “From today forward, things will be difficult. I am sorry, but you will have to endure lots of pain. Please trust me as you always have, I will always be there. Always trust the mate bond, and trust your mate. Please remember love is the only way. Love your mate no matter what. I will see you soon. Now wake my little moonlight (moonlight is the nickname my parents had for me growing up).” With that the obnoxious beeping grew louder and louder and then I woke up.

As my eyes began to flutter open, I noticed a figure standing by the end of the bed. When I had finally gained my focus, gorgeous green eyes met mine. He was tall, olive skin, dirty blonde hair, amazing muscles that were noticeable even through his very tight around the biceps t-shirt. He was simply godlike.

“You are awake!” This godlike man says.

“U..um hi!”I say shyly, not knowing what to say. ‘This is not our mate’ Anya states in my head.

“Luna, I am Danilo, the beta of the Lunar Eclipse Pack” He introduces himself.

“So…sorry, what did you call me?” I ask confused. I know what a Luna is, but I am sure as hell I am not one.

“Oh, I am sorry, let me explain..” He begins but I cut him off “I know what a Luna is. It’s just not me. You can call me Aime, though” I say regaining my composure. If anything I knew very well how to keep my emotions in check. Learned a long time ago to detach, let go and just let things flow.

“Nice to finally officially meet you, Aime.”

“Officially? Have we already met?” Only remembering the wolf I met before I fell.

“You were unconscious when we met, so I suppose I met you before you met me.” He said with a warm smile. I was not sure what it was about him, but I enjoyed talking to him. He seemed very pleasant. I smiled back and nodded.

“I guess I was brought to a hospital in a pack?” I asked.

“You seem very at ease.” He responded, I nod

“I was raised among humans, but was taught about life in a pack. I was told eventually I would probably have to join one…so I am assuming today is the day. What day is today by the way? I guess I lost track there for a sec” I said jokingly.

“Ha! You lost more than a sec. A day to be precise.” Danilo responded with a smile. His stare turned into a blank stare. “Before I get carried away, let me go get the doctor now that you are awake.” He said and walked out of the room.
