That which is buried within

Antonio felt a surge of pain in his chest as he watched his best friends' lifeless body drop to the floor.

"Nooooooo!!!" He screamed in anguish as he rushed to the spot where the body laid. "Jorgy! Jorgy!! Please wake up! why would you do this? Why Jorgy?"

Suddenly, the metal lock on the door unlocked and the door creaked open. There was dead silence in the room.

A surge of anger erupted inside Antonio. He picked up his crossbow, and automatic rifles, two swords, pistols, and knives. He was preparing for battle! One way or the other her would avenge the death of his friend.

He readied himself and walked outside not knowing what awaited him. As he stepped out of the door, Antonio let out a gasp of shock... He couldn't believe what his eyes were seeing.

"Insomne!" he muttered to himself. Thousands of them! He and Jorge were imprisoned in a metal cabin in the middle of the desert with Insomne all around them. The Barons knew there was no way anyone would escape this.

"But how are so many Insomne in one place?" Anton thought to himself. "Why would the Barons be keeping so many Insomne in one place?"

Antonio knew he had no choice, he would take down as many ask he could before he was eventually killed.

"Well done Gio, now you can take your seat among the Barons," A voice across the table said. "You have proven your true devotion. You have done what was asked of you. Every one of us had to sacrifice something to have a seat at the table".

Mr. Gio took his seat. He has worked so hard for this moment. He had devoted his life to this cause, but now that he was here, he felt emptiness. All those years of hard work and loyalty all felt like a waste now that he was here.

What he had just gained was nothing compared to what he had lost.

That night he cried for hours unending...

He then got up took his car keys and drove off into the night. As he arrived at the Ramos residence the cameras picked up his car plate number and alerted Dani Ramos.

Dani Ramos was a Spanish politician who had ties with the League of Watchmen. Unknown to most Watchmen, the League, and the Political class were in close contact, and most of the contract kills they did were political assassinations.

As Mr. Gio parked at the main entrance of the Ramos mansion, Dani Ramos was already waiting for him in the living room.

Upon entering the living room, Mr. Gio saw Mr. Ramos sitting on the couch. " Sergio, come in and have a seat", Mr. Ramos said. Mr. Gio walked up to the chair directly opposite him and sat down.

"Can I offer you a drink? Anything you would want" Mr. Ramos asked. "I'm not here for pleasantries, neither am I interested in anything you are offering" Mr. Gio replied angrily

"All I'm here for is that you fulfill the vow you made to me eight years ago. If not for me your son Theo would be dead and forgotten. Now I need you to save mine" Mr. Gio said as tears rolled down his cheeks.

"There is nothing I can do for you, that you can't do for yourself, I don't have gifts as you people do. I just hold a political office" Dani Ramos said.

"But you have information, you can tell me where they took my son to kill him. He wasn't taken to Tenerife, I can confirm that! Tell me where they took him" Mr. Gio asked impatiently

"You know I can not do that! I cannot reveal such details, it's against the rules. By the way, you keep talking about your son" Mr. Ramos said "I never knew you had a son, so who is this son you're talking about?

"Oh! Now you remember the rules? The rules didn't matter when I have to rewind time so you could save your son? When you made a vow to me didn't we have rules at that time?" My sons' name is Moreno Jorge! Mr. Gio screamed

At that moment two men entered the living room along with Mr. Ramos' son and a gun pointed at his head.

"You better tell me what you know right now or your only son will die tonight and no one will be able to bring him back!". Mr. Gio said...

"Okay! Okay!! I will tell you please do not harm him...". Mr. Ramos said, his whole body trembling as he saw the gun pointed at his son's head.

"They were taken to Africa! specifically the Sahara, the land of the Insomne. The League Barons wanted to make an example of them". Mr. Ramos said.

"Are you sure of what you're saying? Mr. Gio asked

" Very sure! A hundred percent sure" Dani Ramos nervously answered.

"Release him" Mr. Gio ordered the men. They did and the boy ran into his father Mr. Ramos' arms.

"I don't need to remind you what could happen if I find out you are telling me lies," Mr. Gio said as he walked out of the living room.

Susan woke up dizzy and with a banging headache. She could tell she was at the back container of a moving truck. There was no one in the back with her and her hands and legs were not bound so she could move but she couldn't see anything.

Suddenly a small flame lit at the far corner of the container of the truck she could see a woman in leather black overalls sitting with her legs crossed.

"The Reckoner! "Why you the Leagues Reckoner be transporting her, a Timekeeper?" She thought to herself.

"Hello Susie, it's nice seeing you again". The Reckoner whispered. "Hello Becky, unfortunately, I can't say the feeling is mutual". Susan replied.

Susan and Becky were childhood friends in America but were separated when Beckys' parents became Barons, Susan later found out that Becky also had become the Reckoner.

"Becky please don't do this!" Susie tried to plead... "Hahaha haha!" Becky laughed hysterically. "We aren't kids anymore, so you cannot beg your way out of this one" Becky replied in a cold tone."You will pay for breaking the rules, and I will see to it that you do!"

Susie knew that she mean what she said, which means she had to find a way to escape on her own.

"I know exactly what you're thinking..." Becky said. "You think you can make a run for it? Have an unlikely escape? I implore you to try it and if you can. Many have tried before you. Try! I dare you!"

Just as she finished speaking, Susan made a move towards her, at the same moment, a surge of electricity went from Susans' right arm all through her body and she fell to the floor.

Becky let out a maniacal laugh as she watched Susans' body jerk from the volts of electricity surging through her body.

"I know I said you should try, but I didn't think you were actually stupid enough to do it," Becky said still laughing.

"There's an electromagnetic bracelet on your right wrist, it sends electric volts through your body if you try to make any move that's faster than normal or if we find out you are doing anything to harm any agent".

"Oh! and before I forget, it suppresses your powers so you can toy with time. Have a nice last few minutes". Becky said as she disappeared.

Susan had been seeing a hologram all this while. Suddenly she heard a big bang on the outside and the truck began to tumble. Her body was flung all over as the truck continued to tumble until it came to a halt

Antonio was exhausted, he had killed more Insomne than he ever knew existed. He was out of ammunition and they kept coming in their hundreds.

Their eyes were blood red, their bodies were skinny and decayed, he could see through their insides. They snarled as they moved and we're constantly angry. They also had superhuman strength and speed.

A tired Antonio watched as they approached him, ready to tear him into pieces, some took hold of his legs, others took hold of his hands ready to bite his flesh.

Antonio began to scream out of fear, suddenly an explosion emanated from his body, flinging the Insomne in all directions. He slowly got up and notice a force field in the shape of a dome around him. Any one of the Insomne who ventured into the dome would move in slow motion.

" What's going on here?" Antonio thought to himself. He was in control of time! Before he know it he teleported far away from the area where the Insomne we're gathered, to high land. "How is this happening? I'm not a Timekeeper, and Timekeepers don't teleport!"

The good thing about this was he was in control of these powers and he was going to use them to put an end to this!

Since he could control time, he was going to bring back his best friend and they would get out of this place.

"But wait! That is against the rules of the League" he thought "What league?" he said to himself "The same league that left me here to die? After all my selfless service to them? To hell with the league and its rules! I create my own destiny now!"

Immediately her rewound time to moments before Jorge killed himself.

"Jorgy wait!" he screamed... "I know what you're about to do and there's no need for that"

"You know what?" Jorge replied with a perplexed look on his face.

"I know you want to shoot yourself to avoid a battle with me, but you don't need to. If you try to, you would remember that you have shot yourself before and this is just a repeat of events..."

"How do you know I want to shoot myself?" Jorge asked in bewilderment. Suddenly a look of shock came over his face, "How?"

"There's no time bro, I will explain later. There are over a thousand Insomne outside waiting to tear us apart. Believe me, I have fought them and we can't kill them all, we have to escape" Anton said.

"How do we escape this". Jorge asked still looking confused. "Just gather as many weapons as you can and come with me". Anton answered

They both gathered as much as they could and walked out of the room. As soon as the Insomne saw them from afar off, they began to charge at them. Jorge readied himself for battle but Antonio was as casual as ever. " Put down your weapons Jorgy," He said in a casual tone...

"What? But they are getting close!" Jorge said with a scared and confused look on his face.

Just as the Insomne were about to reach them, Antonio warped them into slow motion and walked in between them, Jorge could not believe his eyes, his Jaw dropped in amazement. Then Antonio walked back, took his friend by the hand, and teleported out of the midst of the Insomne.

When they landed at a safe region, they stopped for a breather. Jorge looked at Anton and asked him "Who are you?"

Anton smiled and replied and said "It's just me bro, I'm just discovering that which is buried within me"

Suddenly both of them looked at each other with fear written on their faces and said...

"Susan!"
