Thirty-Six Andy put up his fist to signal a stop to the wardens lined up in the tunnel behind him. Ahead, Geoff stood with Carstairs, who was having a whispered conversation with one of the operators monitoring the tunnels from the bunker. The other operator was probably still unconscious, knocked out by the lieutenant before he’d led the Brimfield wardens inside. The escape from the barracks had been quick and quiet, after Carstairs had arranged for those of their people locked in the holding cells to be returned to them by sympathetic guards. From there they had moved to the bunker where Carstairs’ friends waited to let them in.
