I wake up to birds chirping and sunshine on my face. For a second, I don't know where I am. There's no traffic noise, no neighbors banging around through the walls, no Chasity's latest drama running through my head - and that's when I remember I'm not in California anymore.
I need to call her today. The thought makes me feel guilty. With everything that happened yesterday, I completely forgot to check for a signal. Today, I'm finding a way to reach her, even if I have to climb a tree or something. I yawn and stretch. I actually slept amazing. My body feels more rested than it has in months, like the quiet here let me actually recharge. If the sun wasn't so bright through the window, I could easily sleep another couple hours.
