Chapter two: wolf ambassadors

607 Words
Ezekiel POV I'm on my way to the Main Elementary school of our town Sutton with my little brother David. We are driving one of the pack’s trucks, it's a deep red Ford F150 Raptor. Perfect for snow and off-roading. My brother does not go to school at the pack. Here in Alaska, there are those chosen from the higher-ranked wolves’ children of the pack, the Alpha, Beta, and Delta lines that go through each city’s main school system depending on packs in that location that is separate from pack schooling. The goal of this is to get into the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. In the state of Alaska, there is very strict control of the wolf population, there is allowed and designated hunting of wolves and protection and control for Alaskan wolf populations and so measures had to be taken to ensure the safety of the Pack members throughout the state. I'm quite proud to say that we have gotten very good at being involved in the state department and wolf society. We have developed a network that allows us to have the best chance at succeeding in entering the department of Fish and Game and its many branches and sections within the department, which is many. “Too bad Mom and Dad were too busy to come today,” David says to me. “Yea sometimes that's just the way it is, little bro. They are the Alpha and Luna of the pack. It makes sense that sometimes some things will take precedence over others. And in this case, they needed to be present at the pack right now.” I replied. “Although it is still very important we know your progress and how well you are fitting into school with regular humans. That’s why I'm going and will give a full report to our father when we return.” I turn to look at my brother, and he smiles at me with pride. I ruffle his short black curls we get from our father, they are thin and abundant. Most hair around here.is long and straight or wavy or short and straight or wavy, not many people have curls. So we are considered that much more attractive because of them. I turn back to the road and continue to head to his human school. David is very proud to have been chosen to be a wolf ambassador as we call them. Next to my role as future Alpha, it is an extremely crucial role for the continuance of our pack. He is very serious in his studies and very focused for a 6-year-old. He is rather serious in general, he is very mature and consistently practices control over his emotions. Yea did I mention he is only in second grade. But preparations for a future wolf ambassador must happen early to ensure that any chosen pack member can fit in well with regular humans keeping their emotions and abilities in check. So David has been in the human school system since he first began going to school in kindergarten. After all, it is not hard to imagine how bad it would be if a teenage wolf in the regular school system cannot control themselves when their wolves fully emerge at the age of 16. So needless to say he has every right to feel pride in his parent-teacher conferences being reported to our Father, seeing as he is very confident in what will be said. I’m proud of my little brother. I smile and tell him, “we are almost there.” I see the entrance to the school up ahead.
