“We’re going to play one more tune,” I said to the audience, “and then take a short break - don’t go anywhere because we’re here all night.”
The audience chuckled and applauded.
I began to sing.
“All of me, why not take all of me, can’t you see, I’m no good without you.”
We fell onto the couch in the dressing room. I realized it was the first time I had sat for nearly seven hours.
“Is Kelsey here?” Guy asked.
“I didn’t see her.” I said disappointedly.
A few minutes passed. We were both thankful for the quiet relaxation of the dressing room. I stood up and began to re-apply my lipstick in the mirror. All of a sudden there was a knock on the door.
“Just a minute,” Guy said, not wanting to get up from the couch.
“I can come back,” a woman’s timid voice said.
