Mother hubbard

Lacy McDaniels Lacy followed Paul into the house, taking in the scenery before her. It was gorgeous. It kind of reminded her of a blend of a Spanish villa and a white washed castle. It had gorgeous shining marble floors, modern furniture that looked more like art than something to sit on in the formal looking living room, and eventually she stepped into what could only be described as a world class gourmet kitchen.  “Wow…” she breathed out soft, her focus on the beautiful marble counters and huge center island featuring an extra sink on one side and plenty of work space or bar seating across from it. He had a Wolff range gas stove, built in Sub-Zero refrigerator, a double vertical door wall oven,  gorgeous custom cabinetry. Yeah, needless to say she was in love. Maybe being a live-in chef for part of the time would be worth it! Before she had a chance to ask Paul anything, she felt someone’s presence moreso than heard anything, her head turning towards the hallway where Roman Suarez, a billionaire god of a man walked down the hall towards her. Should eyed his comfortable but sexy sweats, liking how they bunched about his corded legs, the dry wick material of his tshirt kissing over his abs in a way that she could make out the contours of the body beneath. She felt her breath hitch in her throat as her eyes travelled up, surprise registering on her face, eyes widening as they met his. He had been giving her the full once over, her cheeks feeling hot as she realized she couldn’t be angry, she had just done the very same thing.  He came right up to her, their chests practically touching as he looked her over, and she took one small step back out of instinct. Somehow this caused the corners of his mouth to quirk into a little smile, as if it was some kind of test or a private joke of his own.  After their introductions were made, and she had called him “Sir,” he seemed suddenly a little uncomfortable, telling her “Just Roman” but she felt like he had wanted to say more, his tone changing gruff. She made a mental note to dig into that a little more later.  As Roman and Paul discussed where to put her, she blushed a bit that he felt the need to tell her that Martha was his housekeeper. As though perhaps she might be jealous, although she had to admit she really didn’t want to be living with some slutty playboy if she could help it. Even if he was delicious to look at, she was glad that it would just be them and Martha. The privacy settled well with her.  Lacy enjoyed the interaction between Roman and Paul as they took her things upstairs and put her in a room that was supposedly directly across the hall from Roman’s himself. Sadly his door was closed so she didn’t get any sort of sneak peek into what his “batcave” was like so to speak.  She loved how Paul relentlessly teased Roman until he would lose his temper, it was almost like he played a game to see how far he could push him before he snapped. It was childish, but obviously worked for the two of them. They had been friends forever it seemed.  After both of the men left her alone, she flopped back onto the insanely soft plush bed. My god, it was like laying on a cloud. She curled herself into a little ball in the middle of it, yawning soft and smiling to herself. This was a luxury she could totally get used to. But if she didn’t want to embarass herself falling asleep ten minutes into the house she would need to get up.  “Ugh… I will be back soon, delicious bed.” She looked around the room seeing gorgeous handmade dressers, even the bed frame looked custom. It was a beautiful espresso stained wood, so dark it was almost black. The room painted a soft dove grey, big bright windows allowing in tons of natural light. It was a beautiful breezy room with a balcony all her own and after opening a couple doors she discovered she had her own bathroom as well.  Using the facilities she washed up a bit, washing her face some to freshen up and shake some of the sleep. It had been an emotional couple days and full of huge changes. She had to admit she was pretty tired but also, with a growl from her stomach, quite hungry too.  She made her way downstairs, the two guys seemingly chattering away to each other as Paul opened all the cupboards in the kitchen one at a time. She realized no one had heard her approach and she couldn’t help but giggle, a hand quickly coming to her mouth to try to stifle the sound.  Roman turned around, his expression dark, but his eyes not as frightening as the rest of his features. They somehow held a spark in them that she liked, a hint of mischief or curiosity. Trouble. She reminded herself.  “Paul is about to find himself thrown out the back so it would be prudent to say your goodbyes soon Miss McDaniels.”  Lacy laughed loudly at that one, throwing her head back as she couldn’t help contain it. “I told you, Lacy is fine Sir.” She winked at him as she said the last part, trying to get under his skin a little since he had -also- told her to use his first name.  “I am just trying to show the woman how woefully unprepared you are and how hard she is going to have to work, right off the bat man. Not fair sending her in blind.” Paul put on a mock frown of deep concern and draped an arm over Lacy’s shoulder approaching from the right.  “See… this is what you are working with.” Lacy pulled away, noticing a stormy look in Roman’s eyes. Surely he isn’t jealous? No way. There was nothing about her for him to be jealous about. She didn’t date clients. He was super private. Maybe he was just jealous that she and Paul seemed to get along swimmingly. Yeah, that was it.  “There’s nothing in them?” She raised a brow looking at the two gentleman. All those beautiful cupboards and honest to goodness they were practically bare. Almost no food, very little in terms of dishes or glasses. It was like stepping into a model home that had just the basic essentials. Her stomach reminding her she had a lot of work to do if they were going to eat anything anytime soon.  Wrinkling her nose she turned around, then looked back at the cupboard, then back to the guys. “So, yeah. We are gonna need a lot of stuff. I can actually just head over to my place tomorrow and bring back my stuff so you don’t have to buy so much, but really I need to sit down and get a grasp on what your schedule looks like and what sort of plans you are following now?”  She chewed her bottom lip nervously, uncertain how he was going to react to her definitely siding with Paul. Paul of course enjoying the moment as he clapped Roman on the back.  “Not a problem. Let me walk Paul out and we can get down to it…” Roman’s response came back abruptly, gruffly, his arm around Paul’s shoulder, hand on his neck, seemingly squeezing as he drug his friend as quietly as he could to the front entrance. Lacy cringed inwardly wondering what sort of talk those two were going to have on the way out….
