Newly mated wolves don’t give each other space or sleep in separate beds. The first few days they can’t keep their hands and mouths off one another. He can sense it. What the heck was I expecting? He’s an Alpha for f***s sake, of course he knows I don’t have a wolf, that’s the only explanation for putting me in another room. Oh f**k! he’s going to reject me or tell me that I could be his mistress while he finds a better Luna. He’s just waiting for everyone to leave for the evening before rejecting me. God it’s going to suck, not even just suck, its going to hurt. I’ve heard stories, s**t I’ve heard my mom’s story and saw the hurt on her face and my dad wasn’t even her mate. A room a couple of doors down from his, he’s just like Thomas, wants to have his mate close but doesn’t care for her, it’s just instincts for them two. I put the perfume I was looking at back down while my eyes start to water and before you know it, I blurt out

“You don’t want me?” he’s already standing in front of me by time I say it. God that sounded so pathetic. I haven’t spoken much but that’s the s**t that comes out my mouth. Im an i***t.

“Hey, Hey, of course I want you,” he says cupping my cheeks. Why do I care? I should be glad that he has us in separate rooms. It would prevent me from falling in love with him and the fantasy of a happy life here. I would avoid all the heartache and disappointment once he discovered. But I couldn’t help but feel rejected and I couldn’t figure out which one hurt more, being rejected or the idea of falling for him. I just stare up at him and let the tears fall.

“You don’t understand how much I want you and bad I want you,” his eyes flicker black for a second revealing his wolf then back to his blue eyes. “But I can tell you’re nervous and uncomfortable, s**t a little even scared. And I know the mate bond can be overwhelming and fast paced, an alpha bond at that. So, get comfortable in your new home first. I’ll be here whenever you’re ready and whenever you want me. Trust me,” he says as he moves his hands to hold my waist.

“Trust you,” I whispered, repeating him. Am I capable of trusting anyone?

“Yes, trust me, trust me when I say im holding back around you, I have to physically hold my breath around you so I can’t smell how delicious you are. I want you; I need you, but I also need for you comfortable around me and when you are then I will take you to my room and never let you leave,” he growls. My knees felt weak, they buckled. I swear I would’ve fallen if he wasn’t holding me tight.

“Okay,” I ended up whispering. He left me speechless. I knew I was f****d at this very moment; I was already falling for my very handsome Alpha mate.

“Okay,” he whispered back before kissing my forehead sending shockwaves down my spine. “Its late and im sure you want to shower and rest,” he said before he walked away. It was one in the morning; I didn’t even realize how late it was. The day went by in a blur, so much had happened. He walked to the door of my room and opened it; he took one more look back at me to wish me good night.

“Good night, Alpha.” The day hit me all at once and I laid on my new bed. I winced when I put my head back, I rubbed where it hurt, remembering the events that happened earlier that day. Even if things didn’t work out well for me here, Thomas will never hurt me ever again.

Emerald

I woke up forgetting where I was, I wasn’t sure if I was relieved or nervous. Definitely both, I was free from Thomas, realizing that I let my guard down a little and let out the biggest stretch. What was I supposed to do now? Should I go look for my mate? No, I should let him come to me, so I won’t seem like a needy mate already. I yawned letting out a gush of breath, and winced, I should start with brushing my teeth for sure. I giggled. Wait..I giggled, I rarely giggled or even laughed and I have done that twice since being here. I smile to myself as I walked to my bathroom. It was set up with all the necessary items. I had literally only packed my clothes; I forgot my paints and brushes and my bathroom products. I grabbed the toothbrush putting toothpaste on it when I started brushing, I heard a knock. I peaked out and saw a strawberry blonde girl with green eyes poke her head through the crack in the door. She was so beautiful, and she looked to be around my age.

“I’m Carine, Dereks sister,” she said while giving the sweetest smile, she stepped in further. I went to speak forgetting I had toothpaste foaming in my mouth. It began to drip out my mouth, so I cupped my hand and mumbled “one second.” I heard her giggle once I was back in the bathroom. I finished and walked back into the room, nerves filling my stomach, I was smoothing out my dress. s**t, I was still wearing the same dress since yesterday morning, it had dirt around the bottom and paint splatters from the incident in the barn.

“Alpha Mateo said they brought your stuff in here,” she said while eyeing my dirty dress.

“They did but I fell asleep as soon as I was alone, I…I’ll get cleaned up right now.” I said feeling ashamed.

“Don’t feel embarrassed, I was just making sure that they didn’t leave you hanging without any of your clothes. Anyways Alpha sent me in here to make sure you went down for breakfast.”

“Is he going to be there...at breakfast?”I asked timidly.

“Uh no, he had to catch up on everything he missed yesterday when he went to your old pack, he’s with my brother in his office right. I’ll mind link right no..,”

“No, that’s okay,” I cut her off. “I’ll be okay, I don’t want to interrupt him while he’s working.”

“Alright, ill wait for you to shower but be quick, my stomach is on E right now, Curtis kept me up all night,” she said giggling.

“Curtis?”

“My mate”

“Oh,” I said before walking into the bathroom. I quickly hopped in the shower and washed my body. When I stepped out from the water, I caught a glimpse of my naked body in the mirror. I had a bruise on my hip bone area. I guess it was from when Thomas slammed me on the floor after I bumped into him. I grazed it softly with my fingers and winced, it hurt already, I can’t let Mateo see this, he will for sure find out. Wolves bruise but they disappear within a few hours, mine stay for days.

When I came out Carine was still in my room sitting at the edge of the bed. she smiled at me, and I walked into the closet putting on a tank top and high waisted skinny jeans with a few rips in them. I never bought these, but I assumed that Alpha Mateo bought them for me, they were my exact size. I walked out the closet as I was letting my hair down.

“Wow you have amazing hair and a lot of it, leave it down Alpha Mateo will love to see it down.”

“You think so?”

“Absolutely, trust me,” she said with a smile. Trust? A stranger? “Anyways let’s go, before they eat everything.” Walking to the kitchen I decide to ask her if her mate treats her well.

“Of course, he’s amazing, I couldn’t ask for a better mate. He’s basically everything a girl can ask for and then a little more if you know what I mean,” she’s rambles to me with a wink at the end.

“Do you love him.”

“From the moment I met him.”

“He loves you back?”

“He better! it’s been almost two years,” she laughs.

When I walk in the kitchen, I see two familiar faces sitting at the island, Cody and Aaron. They smile as soon as they see me, and I just give them a small wave. I sat down across from them and began to fix myself a plate, once I was settled with the amount of food I took I sat down. They all eyed my plate suspiciously. It was so weird to be here, I was used to eating breakfast with my mom and not so early. Usually, I wait for Thomas to leave and then I go down to eat, but its still tense because sometimes he forgets something and comes back home. I hope she’s doing okay; I really do. Carine also sits down to eat, the amount of food on her plate was so unreal but no one seemed phased by this.

“How’d you sleep Luna?” Aaron asked interrupting my thoughts.

“Please, just call me Emerald. Or Emmie. Just not Luna. Please”

“Okay, Emmie,” Cody pipes in.

“I slept…good,” I had to think about it because I did sleep well and through the night. That was a first for me.

“Really good.” I repeated smiling lost in my thoughts. That kiss did wonders on me, it calmed me, he said he wanted me.

“Who gave you permission to call my mate Emmie, Cody?” My mate said walking into the kitchen with a scowl on his face. Oh no did I just get Cody in trouble?

“I’m out, I gotta see Curtis before starting my shift at the hospital,” Carine says while walking out the kitchen with her plate. She bowed her head at Alpha Mateo before walking out. I knew wait she was doing. s**t, im in trouble too.

“I gotta meet the warriors on the field, Welcome Emerald,” Aaron said as he saluted with two fingers to his forehead.

Then it was just me, Cody and my mate, a very angry looking alpha. I knew it was too good to be true. f**k me.
