CHAPTER 4:THE UNEXPECTED VISITOR

358 Words
Two days passed. Anaya tried to distract herself — cooking, cleaning, even watching old K-dramas with Nova — but deep down, her heart still ached from how unfairly things had ended. That evening, the doorbell suddenly rang. She frowned. Who could that be? “I only have one friend, and she’s already snoring in her room,” she muttered, wiping her hands on her shorts. Still wearing her oversized T-shirt and messy hair tied in a bun, Anaya opened the door — and froze. Standing there, dressed in a black hoodie and cap, was Kim Namjin. Her eyes widened. “You?!” Namjin gave a small, almost nervous smile. “Hi… I hope I didn’t come at a bad time.” Anaya blinked, completely stunned. “A bad time? You shouldn’t even be here! What do you want?” He hesitated, then said softly, “To apologize. Properly, this time.” She crossed her arms. “You think you can just show up after everything and say sorry?” Namjin sighed. “I know I can’t erase what happened. But I wanted to tell you… I was wrong. About everything. You didn’t deserve any of that.” For a moment, silence filled the room — only the faint sound of rain outside. Anaya looked down, torn between anger and confusion. “Why do you even care now?” she asked quietly. Namjin met her eyes. “Because since that day, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you.” Her heart skipped, but she quickly looked away. “Well, stop thinking. Because I’m not interested.” He smiled faintly. “We’ll see about that.” And before she could say anything more, he placed a small wrapped box on the table near her door. “Consider it a peace offering,” he said, and turned to leave. When Anaya opened it after he left, she found a single white lily and a note that read: “For the girl who reminded me what respect means.” She stood still for a long time, staring at the flower — not knowing whether to be angry, touched, or both.
