Not wanting to think about it, I shook my head and took a step back, but at that moment I tripped over something and made a small noise.
Shit. Quickly, Martha's gaze rose in my direction. “Who's there?” she asked, approaching my position.
Shit, s**t! I immediately threw myself to the floor and slipped through one of the holes in the wall, hoping Martha wouldn't see me.
Luckily for me, when she reached my position, she only scanned the area superficially.
“Stop wasting time. Maybe it was a skunk,” said the mysterious man behind her.
Martha pursed her lips and shook her head. “Or a little slut...” she said in an even more malicious tone.
My heart was pounding nervously, afraid of being discovered. “Damn it, Onyx. We have to go. That woman is going to find us!” said my wolf.
I didn't even answer her when I saw Martha return with the stranger and enter one of the black doors. It was obvious that they were both planning something sinister, but I had no idea what I could do.
For a moment, I wanted to go to the door to eavesdrop on Martha and the man, but I just climbed out of the hole and ran quickly toward the exit.
When I entered the forest, I noticed that the moon was full. It was probably past midnight and everything was completely silent.
“Oh my, Onyx, where have you been? The king sent one of his men to watch us. I had to say you were busy in the kitchen,” Anmary's voice greeted me as soon as I entered my room.
“I'm sorry, I was coming to the mansion, but I ended up in some kind of abandoned village with...”
My words hung in the air as Anmary's eyes widened. “You went to the Black Valley?” she said, almost trembling.
A look of confusion formed on my lips when I noticed Anmary's nervous expression. “Black Valley? What place is that?”
Anmary shook her head and ran to the bedroom door, where she locked it. In seconds, she was back in front of me, kneeling.
With a sigh, she took my hands and looked me intently in the eyes. “Onyx, do you swear by the goddess that you won't go back there? Whatever you saw there, you can't tell anyone. Do you understand me?” Anmary hinted with clear fear in her voice.
I couldn't help but pull her hands away from mine and stare at her in silence. What the hell was going on? Was she also conspiring to hurt me?
“I don't understand. What's so special about that place? Why is it off-limits?” I asked.
She got up from the floor and waved her hands in the air in surrender. "I... shit... I should never have come here. Just... just don't trust anyone. Never leave the mansion alone. King Bicker knows what he's doing," she said, her expression turning completely serious and confident.
I didn't even have time to respond when she unlocked the door and left the room, leaving me completely intrigued.
I had no idea what was going on, but it was clear that there were many secrets and dangerous things in this kingdom.
However, when I entered that abandoned village, not only did I feel a rush of panic, but I also felt my power reacting, as if something there was calling me back.
Faced with this, I ran quickly to the balcony and used my wolf vision to scan the entire forest.
In a second, I was stunned. How could I not have noticed? That part of the forest was even darker and covered by a kind of dense fog that stretched up to the sky.
Did King Bicker know about this place? Was that why he was in the forest?
***
A couple of days had passed since I last saw King Bicker. Luckily, the other slaves didn't give me much trouble, so my work was uneventful.
On the other hand, the pain in my body was increasing. In fact, training was the only thing that eased my pain, but King Bicker had forbidden us from going into the forest, so I couldn't do that either.
With an exhausting sigh, I woke up that morning feeling as if my heart was about to explode. “We have to go somewhere isolated. I must go to the surface now!” my wolf moaned worriedly.
In fact, my small human body couldn't handle the power inside me, so I ran off in search of somewhere to train and transform myself. Otherwise, the power inside me would kill me before I could learn to control it.
So that afternoon, I finished all my work and sneaked into one of the warriors' areas until I got to the back, where they used to gather to organize attacks.
However, when I reached the huge hall, dozens of masculine scents flooded my nostrils.
“Damn, I love the smell of males!” my she-wolf moaned with perversion.
“Come on, calm down, better tell me if you can smell the King here,” I hinted.
“No... I don't know... there are too many males around,” my she-wolf purred like a female in heat who only wanted a male inside her.
I quickly shook my head and walked silently to the exit of the great hall. I froze when I looked beyond the trees.
Damn, there were more than 30 tall, muscular warriors, drenched in sweat, training and fighting each other.
I couldn't help but open my eyes wide in amazement. It was the first time I had seen so many males together, displaying their masculinity and desire.
However, what caught my attention the most was how free they were to train, unhindered and with a forest completely at their disposal.
With that in mind, a slight gasp escaped my lips. But just then, a warm, distinctive whisper reached the back of my neck.
“Well, well, just when I thought you wouldn't cause any more trouble, I find you hiding and enjoying the view, aren't you?”
In seconds, my whole body began to tremble. Damn it, I knew that voice, that smell, that powerful presence running down my spine.
I didn't even want to turn around, I just looked down and bit my lower lip. “My... my king...”
“Silence... Not only have you disobeyed me, but you've also sneaked into the warriors' area to spy on them,” he said in that hoarse, angry tone that made me feel nervous and excited at the same time.
“No... I just... I just wanted to train,” I said, my voice breaking.
I wanted to turn around and face him, but just as I was about to move, he placed his hands on my shoulders and spread his cold aura over my entire body.
