ThreeBeeping monitors echoed in my ears. The sound maximized the excruciating pound of my head as I slipped in and out of consciousness. Opening my eyes for what seemed like the thousandth time was still just as much a chore as it had been the first. I focused all my energy on the blinding light peering through my heavy lids. Trying to keep them open for even a few seconds was next to impossible. Darkness took over again, yet for the first time my mind stayed intact and continued to wander. I focused on my sense of touch.
