Violet Violet and Janie enter the prison, and Violet feels her palms get sweaty. She hates the thought of Vanessa languishing down here, even if she is evil. Janie dismisses the two guards and leads Violet through the door to where Vanessa is in a cell. Vanessa is on the floor in a heap. She looks up when she hears the door and seeing Violet, she scrambles to her feet and scurries into the corner, crouching. She’s wide eyed and looks terrified. “I’m not here to hurt you”, Violet tells her softly. She slides a chair to the door of the cell and sits down. She studies Vanessa intently.
