Training begins

1037 Words
Violet Violet’s heart lurches when Elder Davis makes his way to them after the pack run. This is all so surreal, and Violet begins to tremble. “It’s time”, Elder Davis says blankly. Violet nods as Travis takes her into his arms, burying her face in his chest. Travis strokes her hair and rocks her ever so slightly. “You are so strong already, Peanut. You can do this”, he coos as he tilts her face up toward him. Violet feels the hot tears spilling down the sides of her face as she steps up on her tiptoes to kiss him. Next, Evelyn wraps her daughter in a hug and also tries to soothe her. There’s a roaring in Violet’s ears, and she can’t really focus on what anyone is saying to her. “Now”, Elder Davis breaks through the sound as he takes Violet by the arm. Travis takes a step towards them and Elder Davis waves his walking stick at him. “This is the very moment she needs to begin, her fear is step one”. Elder Davis, leads PJ and Violet to the elevator where he raises his walking stick once again, preventing anyone else from joining them. The ride to the basement and subsequent walk to the prison is in total silence. The farther Violet gets from Travis and her mother, the more she begins to shake. “Put her in the cell and shackle her hands and feet in silver”, Elder Davis instructs PJ. PJ nods and then hugs Violet quickly, whispering “This will all be over soon. Stay strong, kiddo”. Violet isn’t prepared for the searing pain that accompanies silver and she cries out while PJ shackles her. Violet’s eyes are wide and she’s shaking like a leaf. Elder Davis steps into the cell with her, taking a seat at a safe distance from her. “Lock it.” Violet is squirming as the pain deepens. She’s openly sobbing now. “Are you frightened?”, he asks her. “Yes”, she whimpers between sobs. “Good. What are you afraid of?” “Y-y-you”, she whispers. “Good!”, Elder Davis booms, startling her. Violet can feel Ellie rising, wanting to protect Violet. Violet looks over to PJ who is seated across from her cell door with his head bowed, and she knows this is difficult for him. Whack! Violet yelps in pain as Elder Davis smacks her shoulder with his walking stick. What the actual f*ck! Nobody said he was going to hit her. With a huge whoosh, the roaring returns to her ears. Travis Travis and Owen sit in his office, sipping brandy. The mood in the room is somber, the silence deafening. Travis’s hand is trembling as he sips his drink. With a jolt, he slams his glass on the desk, his eyes wide in horror. “She’s in pain”, he breathes. His lungs aren’t filling with air and he feels Shadow snarling. He attempts to stand, but Owen is on him like a shot, “Do you want her to live, Travis? Trav. Travis! Do you!?” Owen is shaking him by his shoulders. Owen Travis’s eyes are flickering back and forth between brown and black, and Owen knows that the battle with Shadow is only just beginning. Owen links his father, “How’s it looking down there?”, Owen links his father. “This is difficult to witness. Five minutes in and she’s suffering”, PJ links back. “She’s doing great”, Owen says out loud to Travis, “Let’s get you out of her range for a bit”. Owen practically drags the dejected shell of his friend down the stairs and out to a waiting SUV. PJ I mean, I get it but holy sh*t. This would be terrifying. Elder Davis said he was going to start with fear and he meant it. Violet didn’t know she was going to be shackled, and that silver would hurt so badly. She’s away from all of her loved ones and she doesn’t know if Davis is going to yell at her or whack her. The lights are blaring and she won’t be able to even sit for the next three days. Let’s hope she’s at least allowed some water. He links Wanda, “I’m going to need a stiff drink after this shift”. Muriel Muriel sits on Evelyn’s bed with her daughter’s head in her lap. Evelyn is crying softly as Muriel runs her hands through her hair. She links Marie, “Any chance I could get a sedative up here for Evelyn?” “Of course, I’ll be there in a flash”, Marie links back. Marie arrives with Wanda and the sedative. They each hug Evelyn and nod sympathetically. “Won’t you stay for a bit, ladies?”, Muriel asks, hoping for a distraction. Both women nod and settle into chairs while Marie immediately launches into idle chatter. Muriel smiles at her thankfully. Violet “Your father is coming for you. If you’re not strong enough, he will kill your mate and wipe out this entire pack”, Elder Davis hisses at her. Why is he so mean? Still, Violet is terrified because she knows what he’s saying is true. Ellie is howling with fury as she fights for control. “Let me oooouuuutttttt!”, Ellie roars. Violet focuses on the roaring sound in her ears and decides to ignore Ellie. Elder Davis is still pummelling her with fearful tactics, reminding her that innocent pups are going to die because of her. He peppers in the odd shocking whack from his staff. A sensation begins to wash over Violet, almost like a chill. Her proximity to Travis is fading, she can feel it. Seriously? He’s leaving!? Violet feels a glimmer of something else. An anger bubbling to the surface from deep inside her, and it bursts forward without warning. Violet roars so hard and so loud, the building rattles. PJ’s head snaps up as he gapes at her, stunned. Ellie comes forward.
