“How’s wind?” Amaris asked once Ash settled beside her. “Fine.” he answered. “His wing is weak but Mizuko made sure there was no permanent damage. She said he only needs to rest and not force them into flight for a few days.” Amaris nodded in relief. The look on his face when he realized the bounty hunter had attacked his wings haunted her all day. Ash wrapped one arm around her and pulled her to his side. “He will be fine.” he whispered as he kissed her temple. The gesture was enough to ease the tension in her back.
