Let's Stay Like This For A Minute

Scarlet's POV. 

"Finally, you're here!" I said with a tint of irritation in my voice, looking at the man wearing sky blue long sleeves. 

"I'm so sorry, I'm late. Would you like to eat anything? At least so that I can make it up to you" he said with a sorry face

"Fine. Just order anything with a chocolate flavor" I said and gave him a warm smile 

A few minutes later, he's back carrying a tray in his hands that has chocolate cakes and cookies and cream flavor frappe on it. 

"Again, I'm sorry. I doze off for a few minutes and when I woke up its already late in the morning" he said while putting our orders on the table and took a sit in front of me 

"It's fine Bryan, you don't have to be so sorry"

"But it seems like you're still mad at me," he said bowing his head to look at the table 

"I'm not mad, I'm just upset. But it's not that big of a deal, I knew that you went to be so late which explains why you are also late" 

"But still," he said, still not convinced that I already forgave him

"Okay fine, I admit that I was so pissed off earlier because you're the one who said that we will meet at exactly 8 but then you arrived at 9. Other than that, I'm also pissed off because I've been catcalled for the nth time today" I said composing the remaining calmness in myself 

"You what!? Oh man, I'm such an i***t. If I knew this would happen; no, I mean even if I didn't know this would happen, I still should've arrived earlier than you," he said and give me that sorry look again. Gosh I don't know but he's so cute doing that 

"Stop doing that okay. No one knew what would happen. It's not your fault," I said, giving him a reassuring smile 

"I swear those guys. They always turn to wolves whenever they see a pretty lady," he said, not minding what he just said 

"Did you just call me pretty?" I asked, trying to confirm if what I heard is true 

"Yes, yes I did," he said confidently 

"Why?"

"Because its the truth" 

I don't know but those words just made my heart skip a beat. I feel so hot and I'm pretty sure my face looks like a ripe tomato right now. Don't get me wrong, I always hear other guys saying that I'm pretty but hearing it from Bryan himself just makes my stomach do flips and I feel like fireworks are all over the place. I can't help but to smile and mouthed him the words thank you 

"Are you okay? Your face is so red, are you sick?" 

"No, I'm fine. Thanks. By the way, I reviewed some of the cases that you made and I'm impressed that most of the articles that you used for the implementations are accurate" I said and handed him the brown envelope not minding the red tint that is plastered on my face because of his comment. Gosh that was a close one

"Really? Thank you so much. I mean you are indeed a big help" 

"We're already 50% of the work so I believe that you'll make it" 

"What do you mean me? You should say we'll make it. I wouldn't have finished this if it weren't for your help" 

"Let me treat you to dinner. I'll buy every food that you like," he said, hoping for a positive answer. Gosh, he's just so cute I can't help it. 

"Now you're trying to take me out on a date?" I don't know what comes to my mind when I said those words. Gosh, Scarlet are you trying to flirt? calm your a*s girl. 

I was about to take my words back but the next words that he uttered just caught me off guard and now my heart is jumping up and down and I don't even know why. His effect on me is too much for my heart 

"Yes, yes I am," he said, giving me the sweetest smile a man can have 

Nicoles's POV. 

"Hey stop it," I said, getting my car keys and open the back seat of my car

"What? I mean you're so cute in that picture. I have never seen you like that before. I didn't know you were a shooter" Awi said, teasing me while putting the groceries on the back seat of my car 

"That was only when I was a child. It just so happen that my Dad was a cop so he did train me to some shooting but I'm not a shooter" I smilingly said and close the back seat 

"Stop it! I said let go of me!" a familiar voice echoed around our area 

"Am I just seeing things or is that Cheska over there?" Awi asked looking at the two people who seem to be arguing 

I followed the direction of Awi's eyes and saw a guy persistently harassing her. Another man with his bullshit. Damn, what does he want from Cheska?

"Yup. That's her" I said and walk close in their direction 

"What are you doing?" Awi then whispered but enough for me to hear 

"What do you mean what? I'm helping her out" I whisper shouted 

"What? You don't have to do that. Just call the police and let's go." she said and tightly grip my hands 

"Come with me now or I'll kill you," the man whispered to Cheska but enough for Awi and me to hear. Then he pointed a sharp knife at Cheska's waist. 

"That's it. I'm helping her out," I said in a bold tone and take her hands off of me 

"No way Nicole, it's too dangerous. Look at him! He's pointing a knife" she whisper-shouted, stopping me 

"Precisely! He has a knife and Cheska is in great danger" 

"You're risking your life for someone who's now living in your past! Let's just call the cops why do you have to risk your own life," she said with a firm tone, holding my hands once again 

Did she just! Ugh!! I knew very well that Cheska is now in my past but that's not enough reason to just let her get harassed and die right in front of my eyes. Damn I could never forgive myself if that happens 

"Alright, I'll come with you, please don't kill me," Cheska said and follow the guy. 

"Walk first and don't even try to scream or run," the guy said, fixing his eyes on Cheska 

''Let me go Awi! We're wasting time!" I said with a tint of annoyance and get her hands off of me once again 

"No way I'm letting you go! It's too dangerous Nicole! Why would you even care for her? She hurt you!" she said in a high and firm tone while grabbing my hands. I immediately pull her into a narrow area to hide 

"Awi, I don't have time for this okay!? Any minute from now Cheska might be r***d by that guy," I explained while getting her hands off of me 

"If you do it then I'd stop being friends with you," she said with her very serious tone 

What the hell! Did I just hear it right!? Why is she being like this! Seriously!? Is she lowkey asking me to choose between her and Cheska!? Don't get me wrong I love her, I have feelings for her but that doesn't mean that I would just leave Cheska out of the blue when I knew she badly needed some help. 

"Are you serious right now!? Awi now is not the time for this okay. My friend needs me" 

"You mean, you're EX friend," she said emphasizing the term Ex 

''Why does it even matter if she's an ex-friend of mine? Yes she lives in my past but that doesn't erase the fact that she has been a part of my life" I said and walk away

"So, you still do love her," she said, crossing her arms 

"Awi, for ONCE stop being immature and think about the lives of other people. I need to save her. Wait for me here" I snap at her but then regret what I just said as soon as I see her eyes filled with hurt because of what I said 

"So now I'm immature. Hell yeah, go and save her. But I'm coming with you" she said and walk past by me 

I just let out a groan out of frustration. Why does she have to be so hard-headed? Ugh! I seriously can't handle this girl! 

Awi's POV. 

After I heard those words from Nicole, I can't help but felt a sting on my heart. I knew very well that I'm being immature about the situation but I just hate it when she's ready to risk her own life just to save that damn b***h who once hurt her. Don't get me wrong, I know that Cheska is not a b***h but I just hate her guts so for once just let me call her a b***h!

"Hey, Cheska!!" Nicole called which made Cheska stop 

"What are you doing? Continue to walk!" the man commanded which is enough for us to hear

"Cheska, babe. I've been waiting for you. Where do you think you're going? Are you that scared to meet my dad?" Nicole said caressing her face 

BABE!!!?? What the hell. You said to save her not flirt with her! Ugh!!! I so f*****g hate you Nicole Tolseva. I even hate myself for feeling like this. You're just friends with her Awi, stop feeling unnecessary things.

The man quickly hides his sharp knife in his pocket and looks at Nicole and Cheska. Oh please as if it's not that obvious that you have a knife with you, sir.  

"Who are you, lady?" the man asked looking directly at Nicole 

My heart skips a beat at the sudden nervousness that I feel. God, if something bad happens to you Nicole, I swear I'm gonna kill you twice in my mind 

"Mister!? I'm sorry, I didn't notice you there. I'm Nicole Tolseva" she said and extended her hand for a handshake 

"I'm sorry, she's my girlfriend. We tend to have dinner with my dad tonight. I thought she'd ditch me but here she is right beside me. Isn't that right babe?" Nicole said and kissed her on the cheeks 

I can't help but blink my eyes rapidly because of what I saw. Did she just really!?? You b***h! You're dead when we're alone. Girlfriend!? Babe!? Well, f**k you Nicole Tolseva. Ugh! Stop being so possessive Awi Anderburg, it's not like somethings going on between you two. 

"And you are?" Nicole asked the man

"I- I- I'm her u-uncle" he stuttered. Oh please, what a lame excuse 

"Oh really? Cheska mentioned to me that she hasn't been in touch with her relatives lately. Maybe you just reunited. How about joining us for dinner? My Dad just got off from the police station" Nicole said and lovingly look at Cheska then at the man waiting for his answer 

"P-p-police station?"

"Yes. My Dad is a cop" 

"Ah is that so. Then say hi to your Dad for me. I can't join you for dinner because I still have work to do" 

After the man said those words, he then walks out and looks at the area. I guess he's looking if any officers are surrounding us. Damn, why commit a crime if you're that scared. 

"Damn, Nicole how did you do that? I was so scared that he might find out the truth" Cheska said and hug her. Yeah right whatever 

"I practice acting you know" Nicole answered and give her a high five

"Thank you," Cheska said and lovingly stared at her. Ugh! I want to vomit 

"Can we go now? I'm sorry if I disturb your moment but I'm already tired standing here" I said cutting their staring contest. Serves you right 

"Right, I'm sorry," Nicole said and smile 

"Let's go, we'll take you home" Nicole added while looking at Cheska then back at me. I just rolled my eyes, as if I have a say in any of this. It's not even my car in the first place. 

Just a few minutes and we finally arrive at the exact location where we parked the car. Cheska then quickly opened the front seat and settled herself in. b***h, that's my place! Ugh! 

"I'm sorry," Nicole said in an almost whisper tone which I just responded with a snob.  

"So, where should we take you?" Nicole asked after we are all settled 

"About that. I don't have a place to stay" Cheska answered

"What!?" Nicole asked with an unbelievable look 

"I came here alone and there's a misunderstanding with my ticket going back so I am stuck here for now. I tried to contact Sky but she said she's not in a mood to talk to anyone right now plus Xavier is staying in their house. I don't know who to call anymore" 

"Okay, so where exactly should we take you now?" Nicole asked once again 

"How about in your condo?" she asked without even a tint of hesitation 

"What!?" I snap, not minding my reaction 

"Oh, sorry it must have slipped off my mind. Of course, that would not be fine on your girlfriend's side."

"No, that's fine. You can stay in her condo; that's not part of my business anyway, 'cause she's not my girlfriend" I said and look at the view outside 

Just by saying the last words is like a punch already. You just said it by yourself Awi Anderburg, she's not your girlfriend so top feeling weird things. 

A few hours later, we arrived at Nicole's condo. She made sure that everything should be fine while Cheska is staying. I went to the balcony and look at the twinkling stars 

"Are you okay?" Nicole asked, hugging me from behind 

"What do you mean?" I asked her not removing my eyes from the beautiful stars above 

"With Cheska's stay?" 

"Of course! Why would I not be okay?" I said releasing myself from her hug and look at her 

"It's not like we're in a relationship or something" I added and smiled. 

For a moment there I saw a tint of sadness and hurt in her eyes but she quickly brushed it off and gave me a half-hearted smile.

"I know, but you just seem so upset ever since the time I tried to help Cheska. Not to mention the part that I snap at you which I'm so sorry" she said staring at me. I swear those green orbs of her drives me crazy. 

"It's nothing like that. I'm just a little bit tired from all the things that happened today," I said and turn away to gaze at the full moon 

"I'm sorry," she said hugging me from behind once again 

"I'm just a little bit worried earlier. I keep thinking about what would have happened if you didn't handle it well. Or if he didn't believe your nonsense acting," I said gazing at the beautiful view in front of me 

"You don't have to worry about me. I'm tough and you know that" she chuckled

"Stop trying, it's not even funny" 

"Fine. But again, I'm so sorry" she said and placed a kiss on my cheeks 

Damn, you Nicole Tolseva. You're gonna be the death of me 

"Stop it," I said and tried to avoid the second kiss

"Forgive me first then I'll stop," she said and successfully planted her second kiss on my cheeks 

"No way, I'm still upset," I said, giving her a hard time 

"I'm sorry, please" she pouted and placed another kiss on my cheeks. Damn, why does she have to be so cute? 

"Fine, you're forgiven," I said then closed my eyes and smiled. I hold her arms that are wrapping around my waist and said 

"Let's stay like this for a minute"

"Ahem" a sudden voice interrupted us. Ugh! 

"I'm sorry if I disturb the two of you. I'm just wondering if you have some butter so I can prepare us some dinner?" Cheska said, looking at our position 

"Yes, It's in the fridge," Nicole said looking at her. My phone then vibrate which made me take a look at it 

"I need to go now, Dawn just texted me. She said we'll have dinner together" I said while releasing myself from Nicole's hug. Gosh, I hate the absence of her warmth. 

"You'll not gonna stay?" she asked looking at me. A tint of sadness written on her face 

"Yeah. I can cook whichever it is you like" Cheska added

"Thank you but maybe some other time. I can't ditch Dawn since today is our friendship anniversary. She's already upset that I'm out for the whole day so I have to make it up to her tonight" I explained looking at them. 

"Then, let me drive you home" Nicole offered and went to the kitchen to get her keys

"No need Nicole. Just accompany Cheska tonight. I already call a cab" 

I don't want her to stay with Cheska on one roof but who am I to decide. Plus, believe it or not, I did feel guilty for saying to leave Cheska with that man when I also knew she badly needed help. And maybe it's time for the two of them to finally talk about what happened. 

"Are you sure?" Nicole asked with a serious tone 

"Yes, I'm sure," I said and give her a reassuring smile 

"And Cheska, I hope you're okay and didn't gain any trauma from that bastard. Be careful next time." I added and show her my genuine smile 

"Thank you for your concern, I'd definitely take care of myself next time" she answered and smiled back at me 

"See you tomorrow then?" Nicole asked

"Sure, see you tomorrow," I said and made my leave.
