It was late when we pulled in to the parking garage of the building. I will be calling home for at least the next year. Exiting the vehicle, Matt, Toney and Sophie were all on my heels. They grabbed some of their luggage and mine, and we went to their penthouse. When we walked in Matt, Sophie's and Toney's eyes went wide. "This is a huge Jace," Sophie said with a smile as she started opening the doors and peeking in. "There are 2 master bedrooms upstairs. I hope the three of you like this place," I said, pulling my luggage back in the elevator. "My penthouse is on the next level if you need anything. Choose your rooms and get some rest. We have a early start tomorrow," I said as the elevator doors shut. For a moment, the silence gave me peace before the elevator dinged then opened on my level. I walked in and carried my suitcases up the steps in my new bedroom. I walked in and closed the door behind me.
The room was not overly flashy. It had a California king-sized bed with a black and red comforter set on it. The carpet in the room was soft and white. It had a large dresser with a mirror on top, and a large flat-screen TV hung on the wall. I set my luggage in the chair next to the wall and went to the bathroom to shower. The shower had a large jetted bathtub big enough for 4 people to fit in and a large walk-in shower with multiple shower heads. I looked at the vanity. It was a double vanity, a "his and hers". I looked at the sink that I would claim, then the other it was bare in comparison to the soaps and other things Harry had prepared for our arrival. I know the entire point of this well, at least in my parents' eyes, is to find a Luna for our pack, but my main concern is not really a Luna. I had to look into the discrepancies and the fraud going on in my company and I intend to find it and who. I thought as I undressed and got into the shower.
The next morning, I stood in front of the mirror. My blue eyes and sandy blond hair was bright contrast against the dark fabric of my tailored suit. Deciding I was ready, I picked up my laptop bag and briefcase, then walked downstairs. The smell of eggs and bacon wafted through the living room. "Ah Sophie, I see you started early," I said, taking my seat at the breakfast nook between Toney and Matt. "I did the three of you needed to eat, and I have some unpacking and shopping to do today," she said setting a cup of coffee and a plate with eggs, bacon and toast in front of me. I gave her a faint smile. She was like a second mom to me that I never knew I needed or wanted. Always there, always protective and the forever mother hen. I ate quickly and Tony and I left for the office. Leaving Sophie to her self-assigned tasks and Matt to guard her and the penthouse. "Where too boss?" Toney asked as he opened the back door of the SUV. "Office I have a lot things to get done today" I said getting in and pulling out my lap top. Toney closed the door then got in and started towards the offices.
Melinda POV:
Today, I graduated from college again. I already have a PhD in forensic accounting and Business Administration. I have been told that I am the youngest person to ever have multiple PhD's in business and forensic accounting. I graduated from college for the first time at 16 and the second at 18, and now at 21 I have my third PhD in information and technology. "Melinda!.. Melinda!" Fraya," My best friend yelled at me as I walked out of the university for what I hope will be the last time. "You look beautiful Melinda!" Fraya said, racing to hug me. "Thank you, So do you!" I said, laughing as we both almost toppled over. I hugged her back, our caps clicking together, almost falling off our heads. "I can't believe we did it!" She said excitedly. "I am so proud of you, Fraya! You DID it I KNEW you could," I said, hugging her again. Fraya struggled with some of the history classes, so I tutored her. She studied anthropology. She wanted to be an archaeologist and now she is. I talked her into going for her PhD. She lacked the courage to believe in herself, but I knew she could do it. "It is all thanks to you Melinda" "Noooo, it is not!! This is all you. You did all this by yourself. I was just your sounding board!" I said, encouraging her to believe in herself.
"Well, now that we are officially out of college, there is no need to cram study time in tonight, so you and I are going out for some drinks, my treat!" She said, taking me by the hand, leading me to her car. I thought it over for a moment. Since I was 13, I have always kept my nose in books and working, saving every penny I could Just trying to make something of myself. I never allowed myself to have any kind of fun. What is the worst thing that could happen right? I asked myself. "Ok.. Fine, but I have to wrap up a few projects here first, and then we can meet back at my place, say 8?" I said. "Fine, but don't think you're getting out of this easily, so you better be ready! We are going to grab a quick bite to eat, then we will go to this club I have been hearing a lot about! It is the newest one in town, and I am told it is so far the best one!" she said, laughing. "Okay! Okay!" I said, rolling my eyes dramatically.
