Law enforcement

Someone budged into her room and she didn’t have to guess who it was, obviously it was her overbearingly worrying roommate who insisted on checking on her in case she lost one of her jobs and decided to harm herself out of frustration. The worst part is she didn’t even hide her concern when she budged into her room. Well, naturally she did not mind her bluntness because that is who she was and although she knew she was a strong person, Husuella still did not mind her too much caring and cautious nature. “Home early for my liking, I guess the note on this month’s expenses and the cash on the table already shows me my answer.” She giggled as she sat on bed lying next to her with her hands supporting her head. “Fired,” she yelled dramatically raising both her legs in the air. “She giggled and looked at her, “Well I would like to deny that fact but darn, so I get into war with this bachelor of a customer with a little girl and two loyal men bulls guarding them, tells my boss am rude and gets me fired, and you know what the worst part is?” she asks looking at her from below her lashes, “I am walking home and the same idiots car almost runs me over at the zebra crossing and I wake up to find us in the house and the cocky bull isn’t even apologetic for almost running a girl over.” She finished and gave a long sigh. “Well looks like a start of a beautiful love story if you ask me, the third time you meet is by destiny buddy,” she said cues living me staring at her like she just developed a ninth head. “Your case girl requires intervention from law enforcement agencies,” she stood and walked towards their small kitchen. “Damn, have you noticed all the grapes you stored in your improvised refrigerator have gone bad,” she said stressing on the last word “those things were damned expensive, maybe I’ll stick to my chocolate cookies and biscuits?” she said making it sound like a question. “ Listen to my wise counsel young one, those things are healthier for they shall prolong your breath on the surface of the earth.” She yelled making her roommate scoff from the kitchen. She had an I rather stick to my baked goods look as Husuella looked at her through the slightly open door making her go back to browsing through the job advertisement she was looking through. “Oh and I have applied to a couple new jobs online already if you have to know, everything happens for the good of those who love the Lord and I can assure you that job was never meant for me,” she said making laugh and look at her with the ‘well which one was ever meant for you,’ kind of look between her laughs. “You know I have a feeling that this time am getting a once in a lifetime lasting job, I only hope my boss will be nice and considerate,” she said smiling dreamily oblivious of the look her roommate was giving her.“Come back to reality buddy, we all know that sooner or later you are coming home with a weeks salary with a thousand accusations on your bosses head. He compared me to others, scolded me for being extraordinarily late and the list is endless,” Jojita said dramatically before looking at her roommate and directing her eyes towards her feet, “and wearing uh uh…” she cut herself before starting a world war “ don’t look at me that way, you do know what am talking about ulalimpo girl,” she said and walked towards the couch laughing. “What does that word even mean?” Husuella questioned making her stop in her trucks. “Really, are you serious now, Husuella Lalimpopo, ulalimpo is my short form of your name buddy, please don’t tell me you are that slow? I mean I have been using that word for the last one year.” She said one hand on her waist while the other making gestures. Being unable to hold in anymore, Husuella burst into laughter. Realizing her roommate was standing there looking at her in a questioning manner, she yelled at her to have nightmare before retiring to her room as she was not in the mood for dinner. Waking up to the ringing of her phone, Husuella quickly looked at her phone and marveled. It was almost noon yet she was still in bed? Picking it up, she said hello and was soon left with her eyes wide and her jaw dropping after the message she got. It was only yesterday when she applied for this job and now she was being invited for an interview in two day? So many questions crossed her mind as she sat there staring at her phone like it was some alien. First, was she the only person who applied for this job? That probably wasn’t an option, maybe it was a scum but then again, she had checked the company online and Pickanas was a real company, one of the best owned by the Skimlink group of companies. She soon decided it was not worth the trouble and rest her pretty brains. Probably, she was just among the very last people to apply for this job and she was just lucky. She just had to wait and see in two days maybe. That night, when the girls were done taking their night meals, Husuella told Jojita about the good news and after they were done with their routine, each one retired to their respective activities which involved nice soft pillows with blankets. Husuella curled herself into a tight ball to overcome the unbearable cold whether the city located somewhere in the hills at the central region of her beloved country. If grace and mercies were on her side, she would have undertaken any other profession then she wouldn’t have to deal with the cold July whether of Nairobi city, and maybe, just maybe then she wouldn’t have bear the pain of traveling the longest distance from her hometown to come deal with the scums among many other not so honest people the capital city harbored. Maybe then, she wouldn’t have to bear the pain of jumping from one job to the other seeking odd jobs to sustain her. The thought of wearing an apron and treating animals in her small village while commuting from her home seemed more appealing and so tempting as she weighed the pros and cons of this being a real job. Then, she would only have to understand one language which was animal behavior and not getting herself fired every other day because no one seemed to understand but how could she have known anyway. With that thought in mind and a hope for the best and a better tomorrow, Husuella drift off to sleep with the determination to keep her job this time if she got one unless if and only if she just could not stand it. Somehow deep inside, she knew that despite her roommates good heart, there was only so long she could accommodate her and so far her friendship could stretch before it snapped. All through the night, she slept with a smile on her face a sore sight that her roommate had to wake up to when she checked on her before she left for work. New Status
