"Tell me, did night walk pack sent you here, rejected mate?" Derick asked, and stared at me with a stern look on his face, as if trying to find any hint of a lie in my eyes. I shifted uncomfortably under his gaze, feeling like a criminal being interrogated. Mia stood behind him, a smug look on her face, clearly enjoying my discomfort.
"I don't know what you're talking about, Derick," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. "I wasn't sent here by anyone to spy on the company."
Derick didn't look convinced. "Then why are you working for your biggest rival pack?" he asked. "Why did you choose to come here, of all places?"
