“Damn, double pain.” Eda snickered following Isla’s gaze, it had been stuck there for the past ten or so minutes.
Layla had company and the company was really, very, comfortable around Layla. She tell by the way their hand rested on top of Layla’s and she didn’t move away since they arrived. Not to mention they hadn’t stopped smiling at eachother since the conversation started — what exactly was so amusing clouded Isla’s mind.
Isla glanced over at Eda for the first time since they walked through the doors — literally — Eda walked through the doors because she could.
“What do you mean by double?” she questioned, her undivided attention all on her.
“How are the wounds.” was her response. Yesterday’s fight did quite a number on her, she was practically being tossed around like a bouncy ball — it looked like it hurt and damn the morning after, must have been a nightmare for a normal person.
“Better.” she simply shrugged. By now she couldn’t feel the pain anymore, which was a relief that the pain and injuries never did last long.
They fell into silence once more, yet this time her gaze was on the book between her hands and not the two ‘couzy’ friends by the counter.
Eda though, hated it. One reason being in this fine establishment she could only talk to Isla, only she heard her and well — could see her.
“You’re too quiet, talk to me reaper!” groaning, Eda cupped her face gazing at Isla lazily — the boredom was eating her up.
Eyes still firmly fixed on her book, she didn’t bother staring at Eda. “Well I can’t, I look like a madman talking to myself already and I’m in a library. Leave me alone.” she spoke in a hushed tone, trying to not gain too much attention.
“Cafe.” corrected Eda, wiggling her eyebrows a bit while at it. That was only done to annoy Isla and it might have, just a little.
“So what?” she sighed, titling her head to the side her arms now crossed abandoning the book they once held.
“You’re boring, you know?” the ghost mumbled placing both hands on the table. After death it wasn’t much fun in the world of the living, would it kill Isla to make her existence somewhat fun all the time.
Watching her being beaten and of course beating those evil spirits was fun and going uncover sometimes — but right now, in this cafe was not fun.
“So what’s the plan?” Eda asked trying to grab Isla’s cup of tea, Isla beat her to it — a floating cup would freak everyone out and she couldn’t exactly drink this or touch it unless Eda offered it to her.
“What for Eda?” she glared pulling the cup closer to her, for once she did drink the tea she ordered. This second cup in hand was half empty and all that was left — she was not offering it to Eda, be it cold or hot, they were in public as well.
Excitedly Eda clapped forgetting about the tea. “Get your girl!” she exclaimed with a playful smile.
“None.” Isla repeated muttered the words, lightly shaking her head no while at it to Eda’s protests.
“But come on!”
“Can you shut up!” she ended up saying that a bit louder than she wished, earning a few concerned stares from the people around her. Immediately Isla regretted it and lowered her head, “Just great.” she sighed, running her fingers through her hair falling over her face.
And with that she ignored Eda till it had been time to leave — Eda however kept laughing for about most of the remaining time, she believed everyone thought the girl went nuts.
And they did.

Her hands were tucked away in the pockets of her coat, continuing to walk with her gaze on the ground rather than ahead.
She was a bit down, she wouldn’t lie. Today of all days Layla hadn’t been the one to kindly tell her they were closing up, neither did she greet her — yes, she had been quite busy with the ‘pleasant’ guest of hers, she left quite early as well.
What a bummer.
“Would you stop sulking.” Eda said fist bumping Isla on the shoulder. It had also been a way for her to gain her attention and the only way apparently, as she finally acknowledged her presence.
“What is it?”
Eda shrugged. “That ulgy face of yours is ruining my star gazing.” her gaze fell from the girl to the sky once again.
“Ulgy—”
Not giving her room to finish, Eda spoke once again. “Yeah ulgy, now.” she held out her hand, slowly she gripped onto Isla’s coat by the collar. “We are teleporting.”
Before she could protest, they found themselves on top on a building, Isla landing on her bum while Eda stood heroic lips pursed suppressing her laugh.
“Why are we here?” questioned Isla getting up on her feet, harshly patting her bum for dust that could linger.
“Well you want to see if she’s fine and I want to star gaze.”
Isla stared at her puzzled for bit before she realised this seven story apartment complex had been no others than the one Layla stayed in. She had been here a lot, mostly at night — just staring into nothing with no one or Eda.
Leaning against the railing she stared ahead, at all the building with shinning lights before them accompanied by the city nightlife noise.
“Go check then, reaper.” Eda pulled her hair strands roughly causing Isla gaze to divert away, to no other than the girl seated on the railing feet swinging back and forth.
“Can you land on your feet like a cat.”
With that she pushed Eda off the building. The ghost screamed, she hadn’t expected that in the slightest though she should have — luckily for her, she was already dead and had cool teleportation powers.
Laughing Isla stared at the angry ghost beside her — she made the girls heart jump all the way up her throat, what a total psycho.
Reaching into her pocket, she pulled out a chocolate bar, handing it over to Eda. Her anger subsided being replaced by a soft smile — one Isla reciprocated as Eda snatched it out of her hand.
Leaving Eda on the rooftop, Isla found herself standing on the girls balcony staring at the closed curtains and glass door.
“Did you get home safely.” she touched the glass thinking through whether she should teleport herself in, or leave with the curiosity eating her up — the latter won, sighing she spilled her hand off the door, finding herself back beside Eda on the rooftop.
