Heather felt her attention wandering while Dr. Croster spoke. He was near her father’s age and possessed a soothing, low voice that didn’t help her fight the drowsiness her painkillers caused. Felicity had brought lunch and stayed for an hour or so before heading back to the ranch. Dwayne hadn’t left at all, and he was starting to get on Heather’s nerves.
