A week passed since my last conversation with Omarion , I was in my father's house since he had called me to talk about something he didn't see any reason to share with me through the phone .
I walked through the corridor to his office when I neared the office I knocked , before opening the door and entered.
" People have started to talk about your carelessness Opali ", father remarked from behind his desk , he subconsciously touched his noise with a detest look
" People talk all the time father , so I would advice you to ignore them and me ignoring the rumors it doesn't make me look incapable", I responded with a hint of annoyance
To think that all cared about was his reputation than me made me sigh with exhausted look and this time father looked at me with a warning stare .making me breath steadily
I walked to the seat across from his and sat down .
" Ignoring the matter doesn't mean that it will go away ", father said as he handed me a newspaper with my name on the front page
" FIRST DAUGHTER OF THE YUNGS FAMILY STILL NO HAND OF MARRIAGE AT THE AGE OF 23 " THE TITLE WAS WRITTEN IN BOLD BIG WORDS
Making me crunch my noise in disgust. Wasn't there anything better for them to say about me ?,
" I don't have to do much these days to be in a newspaper", I stated wearily still looking at the page " they could have asked for my better pictures , don't you agree father ?",
" You are the only one who would see this as a joke in this family , " father mumbled his voice clipped with unsaid words as he looked me
Only if I didn't know any of this words from before ,I would be sulking with emotions but not anymore.
" If that was all you wanted to talk about father I would like to take my leave I need to leave for work " , I told him as I stood up ready to leave with a defiance look and he c****d his head turning to look at the newspaper again
" At this hour , Opali is there anything you could manage to do without being clumsy?", father questioned as he looked at me angry , his eyes flickering towards me with hesitation about what it was that he wanted to say to me
Arrogance already written on my face as I stared at him back " what now ?",
" My wife would still be alive if you were not born ",
His words made me stop what I was staring and I turned and looked at the man who called himself my father , I offered him my smile ,how dare he blames me for this tragedy.
Taking a deep breath in and realise it I smile , " don't make me wear a shoes that doesn't fit me father , while the owner still acts like he doesn't know his size ", I replied looking at him .
Father drew near me as he looked down at me , before I knew what happened , he slapped my cheek making my head turn to the left , my eyes blurs as pain surged through my veins making me feel dizzy like I can feel my throb in pain .
I felt time stop , as a stingy hit my nerves making me take a whole lot of breath .
Did he just slap me " father " the words wouldn't even come out of my lips as I tucked my hair from my face and averted my gaze from his angry eyes .
" Sometimes it is my right to displine", father retorted as he looked at the red mark of his fingers printed on my face " you need to get married our family business is drowning",
For once in his life , he admitted defeat and I couldn't believe it , he was gonna throw me in a running bus just to save his business
" Am sure Riana can help in that ", I told him , she was engaged to a rich man .and she could use that to her advantage
Father stalked to where his desk was and poured himself a drink and took a sip ," she is still younger and have no experience in this world so you as the oldest can help your sister and I know about those naive feeling for your brother in law ",
My chest tighten at his words , he never loved me before or showed that he cared about me but now he was worse , everything felt wrong here and my stomach tightening more as I brushed it .
" Opali please do this for the family okay my lovely daughter , this is the only chance to show your worth now , I already spoke with the Jackson's family about you ",
The thought of the discussion that might have occurred between them with my father made my inside shrivel with disgust.
" I am not interested in any of it , neither to saving any of you ", I remarked as I strode to the door and opened it and one last time I looked at him " count me out of this family ",
I told him as I stepped out of the window and left , I never looked back and I promised my self that am never coming back here j
