CAIUS POV
Never in a million years would I imagine meeting my mate here in human territory. I am a prince! The only son of the most powerful werewolf in this world. I was expected to have the powerful full werewolf blood of a mate and here I was being given by the moon goddess a human mate. I felt like the moon goddess really was playing some kind of prank on me. It was believed that having a mate makes us, werewolves even more powerful, especially an alpha. But to me, having a mate is a liability and I believe that it is something not to be taken lightly. Having a mate is a joyous occassion, yes, I agree. But having them also makes you loose focus on what is really important and that is duty towards the pack. I saw first hand how my father the king almost lost his mind when my mother, his fated mate almost died from an attack that took many lives and left many injured including my mother the kingdoms Luna. That Is why we are here in human territory because we have our suspicions that the latest attack on our kingdom is related to humans. We still don't have many clues, all we have is a witness, stating that he saw a truck with humans wearing hoods near the kingdom's wall which was infiltrated. Long story short, me, my beta and gamma are here to investigate the matter while going to human school in which my cousin is in.
AsI entered the restaurant, Derek lead us to where this red haired girl with two guys which I assumed Derek's friends were. I saw Derek immediately light up as soon as he saw the red haired girl.
"You mate?" I aske derek through the mind link.
"Yeah, Listen, I know you really don't.."
Derek tried to explain but I interrupted him by saying...
"All good, brother. Lets talk about this at home." I said sternly.
"Hey babe. This is my cousins Caius and his friends Milo and Liam..." Derek quickly introduced us.
"And this here is my m.. I mean girlfriend Dianna. And these are Jason and Carl my friends and team mates." Derek continued.
"It's nice to meet you all..." I said.
We talked about school stuff and there basketball games and that we are joining them soon. I noticed that the red haired girl smelled nice... Like lavender and chocolate with the hint of mint. My mouth slightly watered and wondered what could this be, I don;t feel anything for her, it was just she smelled nice. I mind link Derek asking what his mate smelled like to him, and I can see his confusion to my question.
"She smells like strawberries and milk.. Cai what's going on?" He asked confused.
"It's probably nothing. I just smell different around her." I replied.
"Like what?" He asked again.
"Like lavender, chocolates and mint." I replied.
"Oh... It's probably Rav." He said smilling.
"Rav?" I asked.
"She is her best friend, They went together going here, so, you probably smell her on my mate." he explained.
Curious, I asked Derek where is this so called best friend...
"She is probably in the back, changing into her uniform. Dianna said she works here now." He said.
Seeing my curious face, Derek began to explain further.
"Let's just say she is the type of girl who works all the time but still manage to be on top with her studies. She is currently one of the school's brightest...." He said.
"ok..." I just replied nonchalantly.
"You ok man?" Milo asked.
"Yeah, Derek and I were just talking" I said and Milo just nodded.
We were just talking when we notice three rogues went inside the restaurant and I can tell they sensed us too, but decided to just ignore since we are in human territory we both have to hide the fact that we are werewolves. They sat down two tables away from us. Later on the waitress walked towards them and asked them what they would like to have. And for some reason those jerks decided to fool around and harrass the poor girl. We saw the poor girl running towards an older woman who I assumed was their boss.
Suddenly the strong smell of lavender,chocolate and mint hit me, it made my mouth water, my wolf awakened and stirred behind my mind and yelled "MATE!". Right then and there I knew it was my mate.
