I glanced down at my high boots and slipped the ring into my right boot, making sure no one could see it, but that I could still feel it constantly. I pulled my shoulder back and cracked it. Finally, I started walking briskly toward the door where Sebastian was supposed to be, still filled with doubt, but I truly felt like this was a gain for me. When I reached the wall, I leaned against it to catch my breath. Tears welled in my eyes, threatening to spill from the pain, and my ragged breathing only made things worse.
