I had made up my mind. I wasn’t going to let fear or confusion hold me back any longer. I was done being a pawn in Dr. X’s twisted game. So after school, I found Thalia, and together, we went to find Ethan to talk about his plan.
Ethan was waiting near the edge of the school grounds, leaning casually against a tree. When he saw us, his face lit up with a warm smile. “So, have you decided?” he asked, sounding hopeful.
I nodded, determination and anxiety mixing in my stomach. “I’m in, Ethan. Let’s do it.”
His smile widened, relief clear in his eyes. “Awesome! I’ve been thinking about the details, and I’ve got a plan. It’s a bit risky, but I think it could work.”
