Chapter Seventeen “Shut off that engine right now!” Sheriff Vernon Purdue ordered the petrified-looking driver of the little car. When he’d first seen the BOLO issued by Sheriff Maynard Grizzle, Vernon suspected his counterpart at the other end of the state had been visiting the meth labs in his county for more than just his regular monthly pay-off.
