Chapter Sixteen As soon as Thelonious turned onto the highway leading to the mountains, his muzzle began to twitch with an ancestral memory. Cool mountain air carried scents of pine and grassy meadows, along with the more distant scents of river water and trout. He needed the kind of sanity that only nature could provide. He needed to feel like a bear again. The highway eventually linked up with a town that went by the bucolic name of Dogwood Falls, though from what Thelonious could see, there wasn’t anything much bucolic about it.
