DESPISE
**Alden's POV**
"Stop! Get off me!" I shouted. The cheating scene of Charlotte kept recurring in my memory as I pushed Lisa aside and left the room quickly. I despised women. All I ever wanted was fun, and leaving them like they never existed was one thing I found delight in. The thought of ever having sweet feelings while getting intimate with a woman I utterly despise is the last thing I would ever do.
"What got into your head, Alden?" With my blood flowing through my hands from the effects of banging my hands on the wall, I screamed out loudly.
It was morning already, and why do thoughts of her still ring in my head? Am I falling in love with her? Oh, no.
"Fuckkkk," I said, banging the door.
"Hello, Martha," I called on the phone. "Get the documents ready for the meeting today."
"Okay, sir," she said.
**Lisa's POV**
I never felt rejected and embarrassed this way. What has gotten into me to make out with the man I refused to marry? What can I do? This man could make me lose my senses with his touch. "I'm so embarrassed of myself," I said, staring at my bare self in the mirror.
First, it was a forceful marriage, and now, Lisa! I said, looking at myself with resentment. I probably wouldn't be able to approach him anymore.
A knock was heard on the door. "Come in."
"Good morning, ma'am. Breakfast is ready."
The feeling of looking at Alden while eating is the biggest disgrace, I thought to myself.
"I will be down in a few minutes," I said, getting ready to head down.
My hands trembled and teeth gnashed looking at the sight of Alden and also feeling his cold demeanor when coming downstairs.
"Good morning, Alden."
"Yes, Lisa."
"You look pitiful now. Unlike the brave woman I saw at the dinner yesterday, have a seat. We are mature adults now, and what happened yesterday was coming from a place of arousal and not a place of love. So don't think I will be falling in love with you anytime soon. So get your place in my life straight."
"You are just a business partner in my life and nothing more, so let's stick with it. Also, you will be meeting with my mother for the preparation of the wedding."
My fork stiffened in my hands as tears flowed through my eyes when Alden said those hurtful words to me. I never believed everything would turn out this way.
"I will be leaving for work now. Have a nice day," he said, picking files up at the dining table and placing a smile on his lips as he left through the exit.
I summoned courage and left the dining hall to prepare for the meeting with Alden's mum.
"Good morning, Mrs. Damien."
"Oh, Lisa, you can call me mum. I'm comfortable with it," she said.
"Okay, mum."
"Why is your face like that, Lisa? I hope you are good."
"Yes, ma'am, I am."
"I'm sure my son is very difficult, but when you get to know him, he is very sweet."
"Sure, mom."
"Your wedding with my son is going to be the biggest in town, and with the preparation we are making for it, it will indeed be the talk of the town."
"Let's go meet the exclusive fashion designer for the measurements of your wedding gown," she said.
"Hello, good morning, ma'am," the receptionist greeted. "Please have your way inside."
As we got there, we saw beautiful designs of wedding gowns with beautiful materials. My body weakened due to the process of wearing almost all of them.
The intention of having to walk down the altar wearing this gown with the man I despised was something that taunted me.
"Lisa, why is your face gloomy? Aren't you happy with the gown? We can go to another fashion house if it's not up to your taste. We have all the time in the world."
"No, mum, I love the gown. I just miss my late mum. If she were here, she would have been so happy for me," I said, wiping tears dropping from my eyes.
"Oh, Lisa, I'm here for you. I am now your mother, so feel free with me."
"Okay, mum."
We were done selecting the gown and left it in their hands for proper styling. We would receive it in a few weeks.
"Let's proceed to the jewellery section," she said.
"This looks beautiful on you," she said as she placed a beautiful silver necklace on me. "You look like a bride already."
"Don't worry, my son is a lover boy. You will love him already."
As we packed everything we bought, we made our way to the car.
"Goodbye, mum."
"Goodbye, Lisa."
**Alden's POV**
"Two shots of tequila," I shouted to the bartender.
"Okay, sir."
"Hey man, have you been here for long?" My friends, the G4, came in.
"Not pretty early."
"Hey man, let's call for some girls."
"No, I'm not in the mood."
"Are you okay at all?"
"I just received news from my parents about my marriage with some business partner's daughter."
"Dude, marriage!!" they said and let out a loud scream. "What's wrong with it?"
"I don't really know who can handle your character apart from Charlotte."
My hands stiffened as I heard the name, ready to give them a large punch.
"Don't bring Charlotte into this matter. She is different."
"Whoever gets married to you will take on a huge burden to deal with."
"Are you calling me a bad person or what?"
"No man, chill. Bring some more wine." My hands signalled the bartender.
"Hey b***h," my usual club stripper, Alex, sat on my lap, making strokes on my chest.
"Hey Alex, I'm not in the mood now."
"Found a replacement already or you don't want me anymore?" she said.
"Not that, Alex. I'm just not in the mood to have fun."
"Hey baby, let's dance already. I miss your touches."
"Get off me, Alex," I said, pushing her to the floor.
"Oh no, Alden, I will get back at you," she said, with her hands covering her mouth as she tearfully left my presence.
"Come on man, you shouldn't have pushed her that way."
"When I was begging her to get off me, why didn't you intercede?"
"So what's your plan with your new wife?"
"Is she beautiful and hot?"
"The fact that we made out already yesterday was never in my plans."
"Seems you love her already, man."
"No, I don't."
"You do. Don't you see your expressions while narrating your ordeal with her yesterday?"
"It was just a mistake and that's simple. I'm just getting married to her because of my parents' threat to take away my inheritance. Besides, I also have my plans. Such a marriage with her won't come easily."
"Take it easy, man. You'll soon fall in love with her. Just try to love this time."
"After
what Charlotte did to me?"
"I heard she is in town currently."
"Who, Charlotte in town??"
"Yes, man. We got to go already. See you tomorrow, man."
"Sure.”
