Chapter nine
I can't believe I came here to disgrace myself. I look back at the images on the television and discover to my amusement that the Secretary was the one doing the recording. Once, she tries to look into the camera.
Lots of people have gathered around me to watch the incident I have been trying to blot out of my head. Some were laughing and pointing at me.
I try to hold in it, to prevent myself from bursting out. My hands clench at my side involuntarily.
I close my eyes and all I can hear are loud voices of people mocking me and calling me all sorts of names.
That's it! I've had enough! I turned back toward the Secretary and hit her on the face. She slumped and went still. Everyone yells and scatters abroad. Some men move closer to me and I smile mentally.
