Our interview with Lilia shifted several times, each time for a valid reason. First, Lilia was getting People’s Hero of Ukraine award and then was receiving casualties, KIA and WIA. KIA (killed in action) and WIA (wounded in action) are not new, but still unusual words in the lexicon of Ukrainians.
The one who has not experienced war is unlikely to understand how terrible and scary it is. Everyone has different dimensions of fear. For Lilia, her home was always a place where she could hide from all hardships, both from nasty weather and from human imperfection. The home ground cured both the soul and the body. Only at home, Lilia always felt completely safe.
