The youth shined the Maglite directly into the eyes of Oliver. “Have fun,” he said. He waved the car through the barricade. The driver piloted the car into the downtown core surrounding Lownsdale Square and the Justice Center. “Out you go,” said the driver, and a group of angry youths wielding batons, paint balls, slingshots, and weapons converged upon the car. “Josiah is meeting us at the Elk,” shouted Oliver at the menacing crowd. One of the youths, who Oliver surmised as the cadre leader, raised a fist. “They’re cool!” he shouted. He directed the youths to retreat to the square which had a yellow and orange glare from active fires burning in areas of the park and the Third Street in front of the battlements protecting the Downtown Justice Center that more resembled the Green Zon
