Rosalind was hard at work on her mountain of neglected papers when a serving boy entered the office.
“Don Vidal,” the youth said, “There is a young lady here who would like to speak with you.”
“I’ll be there in a moment, Vega,” he said, dismissing the young man. “How strange. I wasn’t expecting anyone. I wonder what it’s all about.”
“You’ll know soon enough,” Rosalind replied.
Vidal crossed over to Rosalind’s desk and kissed her gently on the lips. She smiled. Only a week now until our wedding, and I can’t wait.
