Elaine’s POV:
I was silent the whole way back to the pack as I tried to grasp the concept of what I had just encountered. I entered our house and into my chambers.
I couldn’t help but feel a sense of unease at everything and nothing in particular. I was confused. Our plan had been perfect. Too perfect, if so I thought.
But now, everything was falling apart. My only card of getting to be the Luna has been destroyed by my own doing. Caden, the one I had chosen to mate with, was now demoted to an ordinary beta. Jace, who I had been escaping from since he was meant to be the second in command was now the next in line to be the alpha.
"Father, what have we done?" I asked my father who was also walking silently beside me as I tried to keep my voice down, despite the panic in my heart.
