Elaine’s POV: The impact of our car on the tree was tremendous, and I felt like I was floating in mid-air for a moment before the airbags deployed, pushing me backward and knocking the wind out of me. My head collided hard against the head hold of the car seat and I sat there, my head resting on the deployed airbag as the pain exploded all over my head.
