LEILANI I could’ve sworn time stopped, and the earth stopped spinning for a moment there. But that wasn’t true and his voice was enough to break me out of that momentary spell I almost got trapped in. “Careful,” Aesir murmured, his voice lower than usual. That was all the wake-up call I needed to try and pull out of his hold. But I knew I had to be careful because I had almost just slipped and died. Yeah, I would’ve broken my neck and a few bones if he hadn’t caught me on time, so I was grateful for that, but I wasn’t going to tell him I was grateful, was I? Probably not. We were standing too close. Closer than I’d ever wanted. I was practically in his arms, my chest to his and my face barely inches away from his. I couldn’t deny the familiarity of the way his scent wrapped around me.
