Chapter 1: The Beginning

1663 Words
The war in the human world has been going on for the last four years. Nuclear bombs have leveled down a lot of the towns and cities within the human world. Outside the town Auston in Texas out on the urban country was a plot of land where Amelia and Eric had settled down after they had married. They just celebrated the birth of their daughter Scarlet when there was a knock on the door. Eric went to answer the door. "Good Evening Mr. Lawrence." There stood a young man dressed in army uniform tall, blonde hair, blue eyes, square jaw line and quite muscular due to the training of the army. "Good Evening John." "I have a letter for you requesting you to join our services. Unfortunately, we will not be taking no for an answer and I am to stay here and escort you to the base." Eric took the letter from John opened it up and read it in front of John. "Give me a moment to pack John and I will be with you shortly." closing the door on him. Turning to his wife Amelia handing her the letter. "I don't want you to leave."As she looked at him with tears in her eyes. If they find out that we are werewolves, our lives could be in danger. I know my love, that is why, as soon as I am gone, pack things for yourself and Scarlet and go home to our world. Eric responds through the mindlink. She looked at Eric with terror in her eyes. But we were outcast from our pack. When the moon goddess chose us to be mates, they will never accept us back into the pack. Amelia, let's not talk about this as we do not know if they are listening in on our conversation. Eric Cuts off the mindlink. He continued to pack in silence as himself and his wife stared at one another with fear in his eyes. Eric said goodbye to Scarlet and to his wife Amelia, not knowing this was the last time he would see them, and left the front door where John had been waiting for him. Over the last few months during her pregnancy she had noticed a change in him. As if he had gotten colder towards her. He was taking calls in his study instead of in front of her. She had over heard a conversation the night before Scarlet was born. Flashback to the night before Scarlet was born. "Yes, Alpha Jackson, I am not too sure if Amelia will still have her powers after the brat is born." Amelia gasped, almost caught standing by the door. Back to present. Amelia watched as the car pulled away and went to pack urgent things that she would need if she had to leave with Scarlet in an emergency. Eric opens the mindlink I will be home soon, I promise. She found it to be a little bit off for him. Since when did he tell her that he would be home soon? Plus, with the conversation she had overheard, she did not trust him. Okay, I love you. Eric does not respond, making her more on edge. She was glad she had taken the time to hide things around the house, for when Scarlet is bigger and he decides to take her, she would be able to escape. She prayed to the moon goddess for a mate that would be able to train her well, but, she knew her brother would see to it personally that her daughter was well trained. Months had passed since that night and she hadn't received any new letters or she had not been mind-linked with Eric for the last two months. Her suspicions were right about Eric. But, before she had her suspicion of her mate, she cut her wolf out of things, pushing her to the back of her mind about what she had been doing. Afraid that her wolf would tell his wolf out of trust to the bond. She had just put Scarlet down in the camping cot next to her in the library where she had just started a fire and sat down to read a book as she heard a knock at the door. She went to open the door to find no other than John standing there with a letter in his hands. "Good Evening John. What brings you here?" "Good Evening Mrs. Lawrence, I am sorry to inform you that your husband has gone missing in action but he entrusted me with this letter." Amelia took the letter from John. "Thank you John, enjoy your evening," Closing the door, she opened the letter. "My dear Amelia, They know I trusted John to bring you this letter leave now to the forest behind our house to the portal our good friend Siandra, to let you and Scarlet, through back into our world. I will come and find you and Scarlet. Even if you don't make it through, ensure our daughter does. They are coming leave now. Yours forever Eric." She found her mate was very suspicious, since they had left their packs they trusted nobody else except for each other. Here was this John Eric trusted to give her this letter of warning. She snapped "It's a trap." Her suspicions were correct and she was glad she had prepared a little bit more than expected. She threw the letter into the fireplace, grabbed Scarlet with her bags in tow and exited through the kitchen door as she heard another knock on the front door. I knew it. She mutters to her wolf, Shadow. Amelia ran into the woods from the home she shared with Eric but, she had no option. She had to use that portal back into her own world when she heard her wolf speak. We must hurry to protect our pup. Yes, Shadow, I know we need to get back to the pack. They will protect us. Our mate, Dark Knight, where is he? He should be protecting us and our pup! He is gone now, either got away or has been captured or he is no longer with us. Otherwise, we cannot think of him right now. We need to protect Scarlet. Not wanting to tell her the truth, our mate had betrayed us. Amelia reached the portal when she had heard men approaching. "Siandra, please come through the portal. It is a matter of urgency. We are in trouble in the human world." A tall woman with long black hair, brown eyes, olive skin, legs that could go for days and an oval face came through. Siandra had always loved Amelia but was very weary of Eric. As a white witch, they never agreed to what both the Alphas of the Red Moon Pack and the White Moon Pack decided with regards to their fate, leaving them to defend themselves in the human world. "Hello stranger, I see your pup has grown since I last visited you." She smiled at Amelia. "Yes indeed, my friend." Amelia giving back a smile. "I am so glad you received my letter, Siandra. You have no idea..." Amelia, having cut the conversation short. "I hear them approaching. They are getting closer. Please, Siandra, take Scarlet and here is her bag. Give this letter to my parents to tell them their daughter has died to protect her. They must ensure Eric never ever finds her. She is special. The moon goddess has blessed us with a magical pup and the humans are after her." "But, Amelia, you have those powers too?" "Not anymore, they have been passed to her." Siandra, having heard this, took Scarlet from Amelia's arms with the bag. "Goodbye my friend, I will see you soon when I cross that bridge into paradise." "Goodbye Siandra, I will be there waiting for you." With that said, Siandra ran towards the portal only to look back at her friend, turning into her big black wolf, Shadow. The cracking of bones as she transforms into her magic beast. Our mate, no not our mate. Shadow howls in her ears. There is no time for this Shadow. We must protect our pup. Shadow pulls herself together just in time to launch an attack on the men. Siandra watched through the portal when the men approached Shadow. "Where is your daughter, Mrs. Lawrence?" The familiar voice of John. Amelia turned in anger as she growled at the man. The men tried to capture her and she fought back, killing one of them, and one of the men shot her with a pure silver bullet, bringing her down and turning her back into her human form. He approached her to check for a pulse. "You i***t, you weren't supposed to kill her." John said angrily to the man who should have used a tranquilizer and not a silver bullet. Just then, Siandra saw Eric walk in next to Amelia. "Take her body with the other infants' body and burry it close to the house. Dont forget the tomb stones." This sick man made it as if his wife, his mate and child died while he was away fighting a war. John turned towards the man that had shot Amelia. "Seeing you killed her, you can help burry her." Siandra watched all this unfold and, having heard what happened to Amelia, Scarlet woke up and began to cry. She quickly did a sleeping charm. "Wake up, you must I understand, but you, my dear, must stay in lala land." The pup fell back to sleep. She looked up to ensure that John and Eric had not heard the cry long enough to search the woods, but fortunately enough, they were long gone. Siandra turned on her heels with tears in her eyes, having lost her childhood friend, and headed towards the pack house of the Red Moon Pack to speak to the Alpha and Luna.
