Chapter Eleven
Claire was exhausted, having hardly slept after Vine’s phone call. He hadn’t come and she didn’t know what she would have done if he had. Arresting someone while in the nude is not the textbook procedure and despite her jealousy, she knew she had been trembling in excited anticipation at the prospect of his return. It annoyed her that Beth was quietly but obviously wishing him to come too. Claire had hoped the revelation about his clandestine filming would disgust and unnerve her young charge but she remained resolutely silent about it. Clearly, if anything, it had only increased her desire to be under his spell.
