“Hey there! Did I hear the pretty little miss is looking for a place to stay? I think we could arrange something,” he said as he winked at her.
“No thanks,” said Delilah as she tried to get up but it was clear he wasn’t letting her up. Another man came and took off her hat letting her hair fall to her shoulders. “Whoo, you found me a pretty one for tonight,” said the second man.
“No way, I saw her first!” sneered the first one.
“Let me go right now! I am leaving!” Delilah shouted. They turned to look at her a little surprised.
“Who’s your seller you little w***e?” asked the first man.
“Seller? I do not belong to anyone and I am leaving right now! I will call the police if you do not let me go!” Delilah retorted.
The two grimy old men looked at each other and smiled. That’s when Delilah noticed a booth of men nearby in law enforcement uniforms who were clearly enjoying this little show. Delilah’s heart dropped. What kind of sick place was this?
The first man stood up in his chair and grabbed Delilah by her hair. He cleared his throat as he yelled “Gentlemen, we have a new little lady tonight that doesn’t belong to anyone yet. I will be selling her to the highest bidder.”
The music quieted down as the rest of the men in the room now noticed the pretty little, unclaimed foreigner. Delilah felt her heart stop as she noticed the men pulling out their wallets as they looked at her with hungry eyes. “We need to see what’s under those clothes first!” yelled an old man in the back. Delilah knew she had to run. It was now or never.
She bit the second man’s hand who was holding onto her and tried to bolt. Unfortunately, three other men blocked the door and dragged her back. The second man rubbed his hand where she had bit him, cursing under his breath. He, then, looked back at Delilah and punched her hard across the face. She fell back heavily onto the wooden plank floor. She could feel her lip stinging and could see the blood dripping onto the floor. Just as she was trying to get up she felt a blow to her stomach where he kicked her.
The first man walked back up to Delilah and said “that’s enough. I don’t want to have to discount her for injuries!”
He then ripped her jacket and shirt revealing her white tank top and noticeable cleavage. The men began to whistle. The first man smiled as he realized he would be leaving with quite a profit tonight.
“Okay, now for the bidding,” shouted the first man. The men began to shout out numbers with the price soaring quickly. The price had continued to climb to what had to have been 6 months salary for some of these men. Only a few men apparently had the funds for that. Three men continued to bid and bicker back and forth. Delilah was almost thankful for how high the price was going since it bought her a couple extra minutes to plan her escape. However, that seemed nearly impossible given how her head was pounding from the recent blow making it difficult to focus. All of the sudden, the front door to the pub slammed open and in walked the terrifying soldier from the docks.
Several men looked at him with fear and backed away. From the looks of the men’s expressions, Delilah wasn’t the only one who found him to appear menacing. Just as he walked to the center of the room where the two men were holding Delilah, he quickly glanced at Delilah then back up to her seller, “What’s going on here Marcus?”
The first man looked up to the scary soldier. So the p*****t's name must be Marcus. “Just a little fun, Tobias. Maybe you should try it every once in a while to loosen up.” Marcus said with a smirk.
Tobias avoided the remark and replied, “This looks like illegal human trafficking. I warned you about this. Let her go.”
Marcus’s face darkened with anger as he tightened his grip on Delilah. “Hell no Tobias! This one is worth some good money! I found her! She’s mine to sell! You don’t own this island!”
Tobias tightened his fist as he calmly replied, “Let her go now or I’ll have men in here every night supervising your ‘entertainment’.”
Marcus grinned, “We are supervised, general. Look some guys from the force are watching over everything.” Tobias turned toward the table of uniformed law enforcement. The men quickly dropped their heads trembling in fear.
Tobias gritted his teeth, “I’ll be sending armed soldiers, not Thanatos’s sorry excuse of police.”
Marcus grumbled and he pushed Delilah out of grip towards Tobias. Delilah’s head was still spinning from that punch so she couldn’t get up. Tobias, keeping his eyes on Marcus, leaned down and carefully picked up Delilah and carried her out slamming the door behind him. Tobias walked along the gravel path to a black truck. As he began to open the door to the backseat, Delilah scrambled to get out of his grip. “No way! I do not belong to anyone and I am not going anywhere with you! I am not going to ‘entertain’ any of you disgusting men!”
This man might have saved her from those perverts, but who's to say what he plans on doing with her. She fell to the ground as she pushed her way out of his arms. He looked anxiously back toward the pub and said “Get in now. I’m not going to hurt you.”
“How am I supposed to know that? Just let me go. I don’t need any help,” she replied as she backed away from him.
“You looked like you needed some help a minute ago! They’ll come after you. We need to go,” he said as he grabbed her arm pulling her towards him to the truck.
Just then Marcus and three other men came out from behind the bar. “Well, well, well, looks like you just wanted her to yourself for free!” sneered Marcus.
“Looks like we don’t have much of an audience this time Tobias, so looks to me whoever can get her and leave, gets to keep her.”
Tobias pushed Delilah behind him. “Back off Marcus.”
However, Marcus and his gang were only coming closer. It appeared that they felt pretty confident about their odds of 4 to 1. Just then, Marcus pounced on Tobias and the others joined in. Delilah looked behind her. This was her chance to run, but it felt unfair to leave the soldier who just saved her behind.
To be fair, it didn’t look like Tobias needed much help. He had already knocked out two of the guys who were now unconscious. Tobias was bigger and stronger than those drunken perverts. Tobias was distracted as he was still fending off the third guy who had pulled out a knife. Marcus turned around with a devilish grin and walked toward Delilah. Delilah turned to run when Marcus yanked her by her arm and twisted it unnaturally behind her back as she tried to run. The pain shot through her wrist up to her elbow. She moaned as she fell to her knees. However, this was the perfect position for a solid punch to Marcus’s goods. She turned around and gave a solid punch to the groin with her good arm. He hunched over groaning, but as she tried to get up and run, Marcus grabbed her by her hair and slammed her head into the side of the truck. Her vision turned fuzzy. The trees began spinning in circles and everything began to turn black. Her last image was a dark figure standing over her as she passed out.
