CHAPTER 9 Selene couldn’t sleep that night. She lay wide awake in the unfamiliar guest bedroom of Damien’s Montreux estate, eyes fixed on the ceiling, heart still tangled in the memory of his kiss. She could still feel the warmth of his lips, the tremble in his fingers before he pulled away, and the way he had stared at her—like he couldn’t decide if he hated her or wanted her. “That meant nothing.” His words had been cold, but she wasn’t fooled.
