Whip-Around: a collection for someone less fortunate than those organising the said “whip-around.” No charities’ or paperwork are involved.
Scraps: deep-fried batter that is left over in the fryer from frying fish. Some fight over the delicacy, others throw it to the birds, and most curse the stuff when it blocks up the sink.
The tick: “buy now, pay later”; very popular before credit cards.
Chippie: a fish-and-chip shop famous for giving away scraps, wanted or not.
Strictly: short for Strictly Come Dancing, a Saturday-night TV show that has replaced going out and makes a takeaway taste that bit better.
Shag: once known as a name for a large pelican-like bird, now more known as the type of s*x after one to many in the pub or when there is nothing on the telly but Strictly rep
