“Why do I always have to sit in the middle?” Jimmy squirmed in the backseat. “Because your sisters are older and your legs are shorter,” reasoned Mom from the front, as she looked out the window into the shimmering California desert. Michelle and Patty pushed their brother from either direction, trying to make Jimmy into a pancake. “Better stop it!” Jimmy warned.
