Chapter 3. In the guest room, there's a cute floral summer dress and white sandals placed on the bed. Whoever placed them there, knew that Dexter would be with a girl in his room. My bet is on Arianne. I take off my wedding gown and enter the bathroom for a much needed shower. Time to wash off this day. I don't know why I expected this day to go smoothly. You know, without any kind of dramas. I guess arranged marriages aren't good after all. Dexter sure has his own life and I have my own. There's no way I'm going to expect him to change overnight just because he has me for a wife now. I take my time to shower. More than ten minutes later, I wrap a towel around me and get out of the bathroom to dress up for the first family dinner. Humming Beyonce's song, pretty hurts, I drop the towel and walk to the bed. Dexter is seated on the bed!! He has shorts and a plain black T-shirt on. The first instinct is to cover up my face or my private area but I do nothing. I am completly frozen. "Would you look at that... You have a nice body Zoo!" He compliments eyeing me up and down. Finding my strength, I turn back and collect the towel. I'll just ignore the fact that he called me Zoo. "A nice butt too!" He adds. Pervert!! I hug the towel tightly against my chest instead of wrapping it. "What are you doing here?" "Is it bad to check on my wife? Especially if she just moved out to the guest room on our wedding night?" "What are you doing here Dexter??" "Come on, dress up. Mum and dad will be home for dinner soon." "Got it. Now leave!" "Won't you at least ask me where I have been?" "No!" "That's not how wives behave. You should be nagging and overprotective." "You're forgetting that we are not a normal couple dear husband." I answer sarcastically. "Won't you even ask who that girl was?" That catches my attention. He knows that I saw them? And he isn't afraid to face me? "Look, I know that all this is business. Our marriage is just for show. But please, respect me." "That's what I'm talking about... Nag me a little. That way, I'll remember I have a wife." "This sounds like a game to you huh!? Get out of my sight. I will join you guys when I'm ready." He doesn't say another word. Instead, he comes to where I'm standing and kisses me forcefully on my lips. That's so gross if you ask me. During the wedding earlier, we kissed briefly but that's because millions of people were watching the wedding on a live stream. This, this was uncalled for. I know Dexter too well. This playful side of him is something I know nothing about. He must be up to something that's for sure. ***** Dinner goes by smoothly. Arianne is still giving me an attitude but like I said, I didn't come here to try and win her over. The Vice president is exactly what I've known him to be. A snob. An unbothered normal sixty year old. A discreet person. He is so void of emotions, it's hard to guess anything about him. His wife... Goodness!! She has been nagging me on how important it is to enjoy our honeymoon stage and not rush into becoming parents. According to her, she is still young and not ready to become a grandma. That's why she doesn't want kids this early. As if I would carry Dexter's child. We make a quick video call to Chase, Dexter's brother, to officially introduce me to him. All this is awkward but, they are family now. After dinner and the little chit chat, his dad gives us our wedding gift. The key to our new home. From what I know, Dexter moved back to his parents house a week ago because of some security issues in the condominium he was staying at. He decided to look for a house after the wedding and here we are; his dad just solved the problem. "Thank you for this sir!" I say in appreciation. "You can call me dad. You are my son's wife now!" "I'm gonna go to sleep." Arianne announces before I can answer their dad. I think this hate she has for me is increasing by the minute. "Well kids, you decide when you want to move out. Don't rush." He says in a smile and I smile back. "Actually dad, I think we're going to move out tonight!" Dexter announces making his mum choke on water. "What? Why are you in a hurry? Are we bad hosts?" "We are married mum. We need our space." "Oh, I get you. I was like that with your dad when we were freshly married." She misread all that. "We can just move out tomorrow." I suggest in attempt to avoid the awkwardness that's fast increasing. "I said tonight!!" Dexter barks. "Get ready. We will leave in ten minutes." Wow!! I get my ass up real quick and follow the orders. Seeing that his parents don't oppose him, I don't want to be the one to. ***** Our new home is beautiful. It's a two storey house with four bedrooms. Being here gives me this excitement to start working on making it feel like home. We are in the master bedroom right now and for the past hour or so, we've been arguing on who to stay here, and who to take the guest room. It's his house, his dad gave it to him, that means he should take the master bedroom. His reasoning; I am the lady so I should take the room. "Dexter, don't think for a minute that I have forgotten what happened today at your parents. That lady, she could be your girlfriend or a fling, I don't care. If we're going to live under the same roof please, I beg of you, respect my presence in this house." "What has that got to do with the division of rooms." "I want to know which of the guest rooms will be mine so that I can lock it all the time. If you ever bring a lady to the house, you will feel free to use this room and the other guest rooms." "I'm not going to bring a lady over!" "Are you serious?" "That's why you should take this room. The guest rooms will be free for all of them!" I knew there's no way he wouldn't bring them here. And there's no way I'm winning this argument. "Okay, we need some rules here then." "I'm not a bad person Zoo!" "My name is Zoe!" I tell him in a raised voice. "Sorry about that. I wasn't sure about the name." Oh wow!! "So, as I was saying, I am not a bad person. I was forced into this marriage thing and-" I don't let him finish. "You had your own life. I had mine too. I have my own life. That's why it's important we respect each otter. That's the only thing I'm asking for." "You're not going to tell me to stop seeing other girls?" "I don't expect you to tell me to stop seeing my boyfriend!" I say shrugging my shoulders. "You have a boyfriend?" "Am I that ugly that I can't attract a man?" "Break up with him!" he orders. "What??" "I said, break up with him. You are married to me." "That's the reason? I haven't asked you to break up with your girlfriend if you have any." "Stop changing the story. I am your husband. You better follow my orders." I chuckle. "I'm not going to do that. Travis has nothing to do with this." I realize my mistake the moment I say that. "Travis? So that's his name huh?" "Dexter! Leave him out of this. I'm not going to interfere with your personal private life, I suggest you also don't interfere with mine." "We will find out about that. Get in bed, we're leaving for our honeymoon first thing tomorrow morning." "I'm taking the guest room." I make to walk past him but he grabs me tightly, throwing me to the bed then he follows. "We're sleeping together like normal married couples do." He tells me before claiming my lips in his.
