I was again in the dark room and made my way to the mirror. This time I didn't hear or see Hathor but the blinding light still came and I was once again a visitor in the princess's head. I thought back to Idris referring to me as a princess and the two times where I saw his appearance change. Who was he in this lifetime and did he know who I was?
Some time had passed based on the fact that my attendants were preparing me to walk my Father to his tomb. I had learned in class how long mummification took. I could also feel everything she was feeling, heartache, sadness, and most of all anger.
After the festival where we accompanied the pharaoh to his tomb, she made her way to her room when a man stopped her. He was tall with a beer gut but he was dressed nicely and in a voice sweet like honey he said "princess how brave you are to be bearing all this with your head held high, I don't know what your father was thinking not giving you the throne. The Princess did not respond as doing so would be treason so he then changed the subject I was wondering if you know who he is marrying you off to? It's all his counselors talk about If I were in his position id want to get rid of the greatest threat to my throne in a way that wouldn't make me look bad. Why don't you marry my son instead of letting him choose for you? Were a strong family and can support you no matter what your heart desires." When he said that last part he looked at her straight in the eyes and his voice turned more serious than before. The Princess was very smart and gave a very politically correct answer. "I am flattered by your offer Lord Menes, but I am still too sad to think of marriage. Thank you ill take my leave now.
I could tell he didn't like this but he responded in his honey-sweet voice " my offer stands Princess "and he walked away. I could hear the princess's thoughts and they sounded concerned.

I knew what he was implying he wanted to use me and create a divide amongst the people I will not be anyone's puppet. Many wanted me to be the Pharoah I often spent time with the people outside of the palace and was beloved by them. I had considered being Pharaoh I'm sure I could overthrow him, but my father was wise and never did anything without thinking it through carefully I bet Rahotep knew something about it but he wasn't exactly easy to reach now that he was Pharoah I didn't exactly like him all that much either I hated him simply for taking my place. Father had always wanted a son and when Rahoteps father died he took him in and would separately train him and now he had taken what was mine. Did he even love egypt or its people ? I bet all he cared about was power.
I heard a commotion outside and asked my attendant what was going on. She hesitated but told me that people that opposed the new Pharaoh had gathered outside to demand he step down and let Egypt's true ruler reign over them. I immediately walked to my room and put on my favorite crown the serpent that wrapped around my head, I then headed out to address my people before it was too late.

I woke up in a much larger room and this time I was surrounded by splendor. I could hear Rahoteps thoughts. He has had difficulty ascending to the throne because they all wanted the Princess. His thoughts sounded angry.

This is her fault she has been aloof since her father died and only came out for his burial it showed how much she disagreed with her father's decision. I know I promised him I would keep her safe but I didn't realize she would make it so difficult. I thought she would at least approach me but she hadn't once. What's worse is that there have been whispers about people wanting to overthrow me in favor of her so my counselors have been giving me advice ranging from marriage to murder. When we were children we were friends but after my father died everything changed Pharaoh took me in and loved and trained me but she hated and avoided me I guess because of the attention he gave me. The vizier lord Menes was against the pharaoh personally educating me so he sent me to be educated in the prince's school with other nobles and the distance between us grew and grew.
I heard a commotion outside and snapped my fingers at a nearby servant but my captain of the guard ran in and informed me of the people's rebellion.
I was about to order the guards to deal with the disturbance but I heard the crowd cheer I looked out of a window they were cheering for the Princess who was on her balcony. She raised a hand and the people became silent. She said to them that they should not heed the rumors that they hear. My being Pharaoh was now the will of the gods since it had been her father's dying wish. That they must now bow down before the new pharaoh as she too would bow before him. The people cheered and they soon disbanded. I hated how easy ruling seemed for her just like that they're blood lost was gone.
I now owed her a debt I hated to admit this but despite my disdain for that spoiled princess she probably just stopped me from making a grave error. When she spoke to them she was calm and collected with a natural authority in her voice. She was raised for this I wasn't and if it weren't for the fact that we couldn't find the murderers of the Pharaoh I would not have accepted this position. I smiled as I thought about the pharaoh and how worried he had been for her I just know he would have been proud today.
I walked over to my throne room and ordered my servant to bring the princess to me. She showed up looking as beautiful as a water lily. Her eyes were lowered and she bowed "you summoned me, lord Pharoah? Yes, I said I thank you for your services to Egypt but I want to ask why you did it. Some say you should be pharaoh in my stead so why? Without looking up she answered, " it was my father's dying wish for you to be Pharaoh, and I will honor that wish until the last of my days."
I was happy to hear that this was her reason. "Princess Neferet we shall grant you one wish in exchange for the loyalty you just displayed. Name it and it shall be yours." Once again without lifting her bowed head, she said " I wish to marry a man of my choice I don't want to be used for politics I want to marry a man I love who loves me for me". There was an uproar in the court and I know that a few had the intention of marrying her into their family for power im convinced that one of them organized this rebellion. Her request was amusing and interesting but also told me that she was innocent and not responsible for the now squashed rebellion so I granted it to her. I raised my hand and all were silent "Let it be known that no one may approach the Princess with an offer of marriage when the princess decides whom she wishes to marry she will be the one to make the offer. Anyone who breaks this law will be dealing with me."

I'm not sure why but the Princess wouldn't look at me. I wanted her to see me just in case Renee was also there but she wouldn't raise her gaze. It would be easier if she knew so I can bring this up if this is only happening to me she's going to think I'm crazy if I bring it up. Rahotep then had an idea one that I hated.
He snapped his fingers at the head of the guard Amon and the two of them departed. Rahotep explained his plan to the man and he laughed I could tell that they were old friends. He put on guards' clothes and a mask to cover his face from nose to chin. He suddenly found the spoiled princess wasn't the villain he originally thought and it was interesting to see her human side. He wanted to see more and get to know the real her. She agreed when they went to her room. I couldn't help but notice that she looked so tired and Rahotep noticed too. He was tired himself so he went to his room took off the disguise and went to sleep.

Neferet had put on a brave face but she refused to lift her gaze because she was afraid that these events would be blamed on her. She was surprised at his question but relieved when he thanked her and granted her that wish. Exhausted from the day's events she went back to her room. On her way out, Lord Menes from before gave her an angry look she returned it. These men who had never dared approach her when her father was alive now dared to look at her that way. I took the opportunity to look around for anyone who looked like Idris but saw nothing since I could only see what she saw and she was making a bee line for her room.
She made her way to her room and not long after the head guard appeared aand her own guard Anum stood up straight when he walked in along with another guard in a mask with eyes that were so very familiar.
He announced that this guard was assigned by Pharoah for my protection his name Aten and was at her service. She nodded and dismissed them Anum went to his post outside her door and she yawned and went to sleep.
