#Muscovites, #PostCrisis It is unfathomable to imagine anyone being more excited than me to be in the departure lounge at Linz airport. Having survived by the skin of my teeth, my destination was not a one-way ticket to Sydney, instead it was to Siberia – well, to be honest, 10,000 kilometres west. Moscow was my next stop. Not a punishment for an i********: f**k-up, Moscow was a major combined event on the WTA and ATP Tours. I downloaded a Lonely Planet guide. With its colourful images of Red Square and a glorious, violent and passionate history to boot, the city was the inspiration for some of my favourite books, War and Peace and Anna Karenina. There is nothing like a good epic family drama or romance to keep you up all night – well, maybe something, but the books had far fewer repercus
