The alpha’s rogue mate

No one could understand what just happened. Their faces changing from a mix of shock to pure confusion and disbelief. They were happy that the alpha's son had found his mate but a rogue??. Was this a joke? Could the moon goddess be playing tricks on them?. What would happen to the Candice, Devon's girlfriend and soon to be chosen mate; would he choose her and reject his fated mate or would he break off things with Candice and stick to his mate? A lot of questions kept running through the minds of everyone who was present and had witnessed the scenario that had just played out.

Too stunned to speak; everyone started making their way out of the dungeon, even the alpha was left speechless. Once out of the dungeon, they all headed to the pack house to know the situation of things. In the pack house, everywhere seemed silent as the tension settled on pack members, everyone could feel the agitation coming from the alpha's 2nd son through the pack bond but they didn't have any idea what was going on . Pack members who had relatives that were warriors began to link them to inquire about what was going on but they couldn't give them an answer till they get the go ahead from the alpha to relay the new development. Once inside the pack house, the alpha led everyone who was present in the dungeon to his office.

"I don't want word of what happened in there to get out until Devon is ready to address the people and introduce his mate"he said. Everyone heaved a sigh of relief that they hadn't told any of their family members yet if not rumors would have started flying by now and nodded in agreement with their alpha. The alpha seal was brought out as everyone was sworn to secrecy and dismissed from the office. Once out of the office; they were crowded by pack members who wanted to know what was happening but the warriors only informed them of half of the truth which was the rogues had come to take the Luna but they had been neutralized for now; pack members felt really relieved to hear that and stopped pestering the warriors, everyone going about their day.

Meanwhile; in Devon's room, Audrey still lay unconscious on the bed as the pack doctor checked her out; her pulse was really weak and she was immediately placed on IV laced with a lot of wolfsbane expeller, jack was still in control as he continued pacing back and forth really worried for his mate and mad at himself that he wasn't there to protect her.

What would have happened if the warriors hadn't demanded their presence in the dungeon? Would they have killed her like the rest of the rogues after interrogation?. This particular thought seemed to anger him further

"THEY WOULD HAVE KILLED MATE" he snarled making the pack doctor jump in fright. In the back of his head; Devon was still trying to regain control from jack . "Give me back control mutt" he muttered; "No" jack responded. Devon continued, you are frightening the poor doctor ; do you know how many times he has shivered and jumped because you keep growling behind him besides everyone can feel that you are anxious through the bond. "Fine but promise that you'll take care of mate". I promise!; Devon said. With that, jack finally retreated to the back of his mind giving control back to Devon.

Doctor how is she? Devon asked . She's severely dehydrated and malnourished with a few broken ribs that didn't heal correctly; also the wounds caused by the whip would take a long time to heal due to the effects of the silver and the wolfsbane which are still a lot in her system, she'd have to be placed on bed rest and a strict diet which must contain a lot of meat. But she'll be fine right? Yes. When would she wake up?. I don't know for certain; it could take hours or a day or a couple of days, it all depends on how fast her wolf heals . With that, the doctor packed up and headed for the door but not before reminding Devon to check up on her every 4 hours and inject her IV with her drugs that'll help speed up her healing process; I'll come to check on her from time to time, the doctor said and walked out.

Once the doctor left; Devon started pacing, "I HAVE TO REJECT HER" this thought seem to stir jack up. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY YOU HAVE TO REJECT HER, jack growled in his head; she's not my class , she's weak. How do I contest for the throne against my brother when I have such a weak and useless mate by my side; a rogue for that matter". She's perfect; the moon goddess chose her for us for a reason, jack retorted and what reason could that be? Devon questioned. I don't know but you can't reject mate, he whimpered. "I need a strong mate by my side like Candice; with her atleast I have a chance to compete for the throne against my brother; this statement makes jack growl in the back of his mind, Don't do anything stupid human" he said but Devon just put up a block between them to stop him from whining about how their mate is fated to them for a reason. He kept staring at Audrey who lay motionless on his bed and instinctively reached for her hand; 'I wish you were strong so I wouldn't have to be so cruel to you' he whispered before placing her hand back unto the bed and walking out of the room. Once out of the room; he linked two of the warriors that witnessed everything and stationed them at his door instructing them not to let anyone in aside from himself.

He needed to talk to his father about what had happened but on his way to the office; he stumbled into Candice who seemed super excited and giddy. 'Where have you been' she asked but he just brushed her off and told her he would see her later before walking away
