CHAPTER TWELVE

GEMINI’s POV.

I throw the vase to the floor and it shatters into a million pieces. The nerve of Athena to think she can choose when and when not to divorce him. How dare she think she can do that? How dare she think she can even say that?

The more I think about it, the more anger wells up inside of me. Yes, I am having an affair with him and so what? What makes her think she is special? Stefan and I had something going on before she brought herself into the picture. She couldn’t even get pregnant in the six years of their marriage. She should be thankful to me that I bailed her out of that shame but what does she do?

I get angry the more thinking about it.

“You need to calm down, Gem.” My mother says, “you are pregnant, “don’t forget that.”

“It makes no sense mum.” I hiss, “how can she still want to be married to a man who clearly does not want her? Is that how desperate she is? He has engaged me and she thinks it’s okay for her to still lust after him like some kind of maniac.

“Don’t worry.” She cajoles me again, “she has done enough and I won’t let you suffer for this.”

I scoff. I will rather watch her than think she can do this to me.

“I will handle her myself.” I tell her as I pick up my phone. I am no longer that little girl that she does everything for. Now, I want to handle her myself and she is going to wish she signed the divorce papers sooner.

“I saw her sneaking out of the house with that doctor,” I say as I dial Stefan’s number, “do you think something is going on between them?”

“You know your sister can be as scared as she can be, Gem,” mum laughs, “she doesn’t have the balls to do that.”

“Well, that’s for us to know mum.” I turn to her, “but the public does not know that. I will give them a show of a lifetime.”

Her lips curl into a smile while I dial Stefan’s phone and he answers almost immediately.

“Babe.”

“Athena is cheating on you.” I tell him.

“I know that already.” He answers and a look of surprise and confusion flashes through my face.

“How did you—

“That grandpa doctor.” He answers, “how dare he even think of doing that to me? I gave her everything and this is how she will repay me?”

He sounds upset and I like that. The more upset he is, the better he will be able to deal with that sister of mine.

“Don’t let Athena do this to you, Stefan.” I tell him again, “you are the alpha of the pack and she dares to do this.”

“Don’t worry too much,” he says, “I will handle her. I don’t want you stressing about her, you are pregnant.”

“I will see you later,”

After ending the call, the smile on my face intensifies. Athena has always given me what I wanted and I don’t think she will stop now. She has to give it to me, I am her junior sister.

Without saying anything else to my mother, I turn and I make my way towards the stairs.

Stefan and my story cannot end this way. I am going to back everything she ever had.

As soon as I get to the top of the stairs, I see my father walk out of the study. The moment our eyes meet, he looks away.

To him, I can never compare to his precious daughter.

“You don’t look happy to see me dad,” I say and he slowly turns his head towards me, his face devoid of any kind of emotion, “I got engaged today. You haven’t congratulated me yet, dad.”

“Congratulations, Gemini.” He says calmly and the anger inside of me erupts.

The only reason why he accepted my relationship with Stefan is because of the family situation. Father is about to go bankrupt and the only way to revive the company is to accept the condition that Stefan put up. That was the only way the two of us could get engaged. My own father believed Athena is the best bet for Stefan.

Thinking about it now, it pisses me off the more. The fact that he chooses her over me all the time annoys the hell out of me.

“How long will you be upset about this, father?” I ask. “Stefan and I are engaged now. He no longer belongs to my elder sister, I think you should accept that now.”

“I already did.”

“Did you?” I take a step closer to him, “you and I know you are not happy with this and you are only doing this because your company is on the line. I will never be good enough like her, will I?”

“What exactly do you want me to say, Gemini?” He asks, “you got what you wanted right?”

“Not yet.” I tell him, “I still need you to choose me and like me dad. You like Athena so much that you can’t see an injustice done to her but me—

“Not now, Gem.”he interrupts me, “I have a meeting to attend. I will see you later.”

Before I can say anything, he walks away leaving me standing to myself. I smile after him. I am going to make sure the love he feels for her is transferred to me even if I have to do something.

Angrily, I storm towards my room but as soon as I push the door open, my eyes catch the man on my bed and my heart skips a beat.

“How did you get in here, Arturo?” I ask.

“You have not been taking my calls.”

Arturo is Stefan's beta and my one time lover. The nerve of him to show his face today of all days.

“What are you doing here?” I ask him again, “do no one see you?”

“This is not the first time I am coming to see you, princess.” He says as he slowly pulls his body off the bed and starts to take slow steps towards me, “you have not been picking my calls and I was losing my mind.”

“I got engaged today, Arturo.”

“And I was there.”

“So—

“Come on, princess,” he snakes his hands around my waist and pulls me towards himself, “you and I know you don’t want him. You only want to take him away from Athena.”

I roll my eyes. The audacity of him to even think he knows me. That’s the story I sold to him and he stupidly believed me. How pathetic! How can he be Stefan’s beta and be foolish? Someone like him deserves my sister and nothing else.

“Isn’t that right, Gem?” He asks again, “you don’t want him because you love him.”

“You need to leave now, Arturo.”

“Why? I only just got here. I need to know how my wife and my baby are doing.”

My jaw drops. He knows?
