CHAPTER SEVEN

2026 Words
SETH’s POV. The resemblance was uncanny. It felt like my ex wife had come to me from the dead. The moment I saw Athena, I was stupefied for a moment. My ex wife didn’t have a sister so how did they look alike so much? The only thing that made me not to ask was her situation. A week in the hospital and no one came to see her, her husband didn’t even bother with her. I could see the pain in her eyes and that angered every f*****g vein in my body. I decided to quit being violent years ago but seeing the man parade his mistress when his wife was basically dying in the hospital filled me with a kind of rage. First of all, Athena looked like my ex wife and secondly, I hated men who acted like p*****s. When she said she wanted to leave, part of me didn’t want to let her go. I didn’t want her to go back to that house but I couldn’t stop her. That was her family and that animal was still her husband but thinking about it now, I must have made a terrible mistake. She could lose her baby at any slight discomfort and that was not what we wanted. Even if I didn’t want her to have that bastard : child, Athena would be broken if that happened. I have seen the way she wants to protect that baby with her life. My door push open and a nurse walks in, cutting into my train of thought. “Doctor,”she calls out. “Athena,” I start to speak as I remove my lab coat from my body, “get me her address.” “But the patient in room 305 is ready for you sir. Are you leaving?” “Zade will cover for me. Bring me her address” “Yes, doctor.” I have no reason to go to her house but I have a feeling that the entire situation there would be ugly. Picking up my phone, I dial a certain number and the person answers immediately. “Sir,” his voice comes through. “Stefan Hallow and Athena Hallows, I want you to get me every single information you can about them and I need it on my table before the end of the day. Do you understand that?” “Yes, sir” “Good.” I end the call and grab my car keys before making my way out of the office. I meet the nurse in the hallway and grab the address from her before making my way out of the hospital. I don’t know why I am going there but I have a feeling she needs saving. I scoff at the thought of that. It’s been such a long time since I ever thought a woman needed saving. I mean I caught my ex wife cheating on me with my best friend and I drove my claws into her, killing her in that instant. Since then, the female gender has been invisible to me. But Athena. Her eyes held depth and the uncanny resemblance to my ex wife was doing something to me that I didn’t want to. “Just once” I tell myself as I turn on the ignition of my Porsche, I just want to be sure her and her baby are doing fine. Fifteen minutes later, I pull up in front of the Hallow mansion. Cars are littered everywhere and I am guessing they had a function going on. “Good day sir,” the security at the gate greets me and opens the gate. They don’t even bother to ask who I am. The Hallows are a symbol of wealth and opulence and of course the security would think I am one of their acquaintances. By the time I enter the house, my eyes catch sight of the woman in the middle who has people surrounding her—Athena. “He is my husband,” she yells with tears streaming down her eyes. My forehead squeezes into a slight frown as I stand and watch. Did she know about this function? Is that why she wanted to leave the hospital? She wanted to come fight for this douchebag? “I do not accept this engagement,” she continues again. “You are making a fool of yourself, Athena” her husband’s mistress finally speaks up, her voice laced with enough sarcasm, “you didn’t even dress properly to claim the man you call your husband and you dare to embarrass the entire Hallow name?” “Stop this madness, Athena” Stefan hisses, “and go to your room. We will talk later.” “Talk?” Athena yells, “you are getting engaged to someone when I am still alive and you— “Take her to her room,” an elderly lady who is standing beside Stefan orders. I don’t even need to ask who she is—the resemblance is believable. “No, mother.” Athena yells but two men drag her off towards the stairs while the woman begins to smile at the crowd. “My apologies everyone,” she says, “she was in rehabilitation for drugs. We didn’t know she would do this. Please, enjoy the party” Without another word, she pulls her son aside while my attention shift to the stairs. Anger wells up inside of me and I clench my jaw. “Excuse me.” I call out to one of the waiters, “the bathroom.” “It’s on the second floor sir. The first door to your right” I nod and make my way towards the stairs. I come across the two guards and they both bow to me before walking away. I don’t bother finding her door because I hear her whimpers. Walking towards the door, I immediately push it open and her tear stained face comes into view. Surprise flashes through her face as I step into the room. “Doctor?” Athena calls out in disbelief but that the least of my problems right now. “One question, Athena.” I say as I halt in front of her, “did you know?” “What?” “Did you come back to stop your cheating husband from getting engaged to someone else?” “I didn’t know and that’s why I want to stop them. I am carrying his child and he…he can’t do this to me,” she bites back another tears, “I am willing to do anything he wants but he can’t— I ball my fist as I take another step towards her. What exactly is it about that rat faced man that she can not give up? “If you keep crying, you will lose your child and no one downstairs will care about that. Do you understand me? Go to the bathroom and wash your face, I will bring you back to the hospital. You can come back after everything is done. “No,” she half yells, “Stefan will get engaged to her if I leave. He— I raked my hand through my hair. This shouldn’t concern me but I couldn’t just leave her alone. Somehow, it feels like she has become part of my life. “He will get engaged to her even if you are here, Athena.” I tell her, “the two of them will get married right in front of you and you will be here.” “No.” She shakes her head and my jaw clenches the more. The pain I have seen in her eyes for the past one week will forever be etched in my mind. How can someone so young bear that kind of pain? Just thinking about it now makes me want to grab Stefan by the neck and sever his head from his body. “I will die if he leaves me, doctor.” Now she is practically begging, “my life will come to halt and he— “Come with me, Athena” I ask her again but she shakes her head in the negative. “If I leave, Gemini wins” she shakes her hand again, “I can’t let her win. I can’t let her take my husband” She makes to walk past me but I grab a hold of her hand and yank her into my embrace, her back to me. As soon as we make contact, my wolf strides inside of me. I haven’t felt him since the curse. The first time in eight years. “Athena!” Her name rolls off my tongue as the realization dawns on me. “Come with me and you won’t have to witness this.” “He— “Athena.” I cut her off, “please” I haven’t said that word in years. Just one well and I was already doing things I would normally not done. Fuck!! This was crazy. “I want this to be a dream so bad” she whispers, “I have sacrificed so much and I— “Come with me,” I tell her again and this time she doesn’t say anything but I see the acceptance in her eyes. I grab a hold of her gand and pull her gently with. I wanted her to have a change of clothes but on a second thought I decide against it. Another second in this house will be suffocating. “Is there a back door?” “Hmm” she nods and points towards it but in that moment, I see someone step out of the in-house elevator—Gemini. Her eyes open wide for a moment as soon as she sees us before curling into a mocking smile. I already know what’s going on in her head and genuinely, I am not looking for correct the impression. “You create a scene and then you run off with your doctor boyfriend?” She asks mocking, halting in front of us, “you cried so much dear sis, I almost felt pity for you. I should have known you were no good, Athena. “I gave you everything,” Athena’s voice comes out in a whisper, “everything you can ever want as a child. I gave you and this is how you repay me?” “Oh please.” Gemini rolls her eyes to the back of her head, “don’t act like you gave me life. You took it from me and now that I am getting what rightfully belongs to me, you are whining for it, Athena” she glances over at me, the smirk on her face intensifies as her gaze travels over me. I know that look and I have gotten it from a lot of ladies. “At least some else is willing to chose you. Athena. I suggest you leave quietly and let Stefan and I be at peace. For the record, we had a lot of s*x when you were in the hospital and I was the one who made sure he never called you. Have a good life.” Without another word, she turned to leave but I halt her, covering the distance between us. As soon as I get to where she is standing, I lean closer to her with my mouth against her ear. “You had s*x with him because he is the one person who wants you, b***h” I whisper into her ear as her entire body stiffen, “and don’t you think he will be upset if he finds out that for a split second, you thought of f*****g me? Have you ever wondered if you would still want him when everything he has disappears?” “You— “Be good to your sister,” I say as I straighten up, “that will make you look a little less ugly than your makeup did.” I don’t bother to wait for her response as I grab Athena’s hand and lead her away.
