Chapter 15

1012 Words
The moment we all had been waiting for, the moment that captured our hearts in one clench, the moment of truth at the end of another business deal. I could tell why it was an addiction to Levy. It was because of the adrenaline rush, the action and the thrill of creating plans to kill unwanted people in this world. I got out of the van, followed by Levy, his dad, and Silvia Hart. We stood beside each other with eyes that were the colour of sparkles at the hotel sign of the popular Ritz-Carlton hotel that, once again, stood up so proudly of its reputation with flashlights and strong architecture. "Remember what we talked about," Mr. Clay mentioned, "We walk, Silvia distracts and we move, Lia in front of the door, Levy comes with me and Silvia catches up with us, remember the earpiece and don't forget to communicate." He instructed like we were children. We all agreed and we stepped in the direction of the hotel. I had the gun hidden in my back pocket as we entered the hotel. I closely followed behind Levy and his dad as they steadily walked like they were normal people, the clock on the reception area ticked to midnight as all the lights dipped to create a peaceful feel to the night. Levy's hand found mine since I couldn't see and he guided me to the staircase. Silvia was still in the reception area distracting the woman as we effortlessly passed by to the staircase. Now, we trailed up the stairs in hushed movements after we discharged the camera via Mr. Clay's unlock device that discharged any types of webcams, I almost tripped on a stair when Levy's hand tugged me forward, making me regain balance. I was never cut out for these action plans. We deliberately walked slowly so that the people didn't sense our alertness. The first rule of our plan: always scan your surroundings. So, we scanned and we only found out there was a security guy on each floor. They had been making drastic changes since the incident. The Ritz-Carlton wasn't the same as before. They had upped their security and had the scanning device, which thankfully, we didn't encounter. I could tell that it was their new plan to raise awareness of shootings so the customers could feel at ease. I stood near the door to cover for Mr. Clay as he took out a magnet card and the sensor fell for the trick, Levy kissed me on my cheek before he entered with his dad. My heart was thwarted ridiculously at the thought of getting caught. Coming from a good family that raised us with the right values and morality, I was never put into these situations where I had to lie or try not to be caught by security, people who were hired to bring justice back. I realized that what I was doing was wrong, but certain actions lead to certain measures, that was what I learned from Levy's family two summers ago. For them, it was family first then business next. Mrs. Christina was my role model in life, she had survived shootings when she used to have the same trips like this one and help her husband while handling a baby, Levy, the next day like they didn't just shoot gangs. She was a great multi-tasker; she used to bake me a chocolate cake while cleaning the floor. To complete the whole package, she was divinely beautiful with teal-coloured eyes and short daisy-coloured hair that reached her neck. I snapped out of the thoughts of his mom when my heartbeat heightened as I saw Mr. Denis, the one I aimed for, talking on the phone at the other side of the floor. I reached my gun in no time and pointed it at the back of his head, my finger ached to pull the trigger since the security went off to Silvia, our source of distraction, but to my disappointment, the gun tumbled on the ground by Silvia as she glared at me. "Are you crazy?" she snapped, "You don't even know how to use a gun, I protected you from being Denis's meal," She scolded me and I hated that she was right. I had to admit, the spur of the moment caught me by the drive of bitterness that momentarily blinded my logic, I just wanted to get rid of him and save us the trouble. Thanks to Silvia arriving in time, we both had time to go into the other empty room when we sensed Mr. Denis walking to his room. "Mr. Denis is coming your way, I repeat, Mr. Denis is coming your way." Silvia courageously spoke into her earpiece. We waited in the white-coloured room and that gave me a chance to thank her. "Thank you for not letting me shoot at him." I sincerely said as she turned around to face me with a smile. "What are you thanking me for?" she neared me with a sinister smile, "it's no problem, I would do it again and again." She carefully approached me as I stepped away from her. Her steps scared me as she neared me closer and closer until my heart was in my throat, making my brain realize her intentions. "You're working with them?" I gasped at the act of betrayal caused by Silvia Hart. Another problem was that I didn't know how I would fight back the most fatal killer. "They offered me better money." She said inadvertently as she stopped in front of me, "they also offered me the sexy Mr. Clay to sleep with, so it was a double offer. They only wanted you, darling. Specifically, to Mr. Denis." She didn't realize that I was holding the recording device the whole time, making Levy and his dad hear the stunt she pulled on us. "Well, good job," I said with a smile, making her surprised at my change of emotions, "say cheese." Levy pulled the trigger and the biggest killer went down.
